I read the Police actually rejected this model of the G21 SF with a Picatinny rail because of the poorly designed Ambi magazine release, it wasnt suitable and would cause a magazine to get dropped during normal use by accident , and it also didnt work in Police holsters, and only works with the special ambi cut out magazines

thats why it's been discontinued, the model Gen 3 G21 SF with a standard mag release is more popular, plus it take all magazines

Thanks for the info, DienBienphu. I am currently looking at a Gen.3 G21 to add to my collection.I bought 2 ruger MKiV-22s a few weeks before the recall came out on them and don't want that kind of headache again if I can keep from it.
the standard Gen 3 G21 SF models with a regular Glock rail and regular mag release are good to go / good ones

I would recommend the current ones or recent manufacture, because the chambers are also updated / improved the older G21 models have the over size chambers

the newer ones feel like they tightened up the chambers, no more "wobble" I compared my recent manufactured G21 SF chamber with a standard GI M1911A1 chamber and it was almost the same, very little movement, Ive seen some of the older G21 models that actually rattle a little if you move the cartridge by hand.

then I took a fired brass casing from my G21 SF and examined it for bulging and it looked normal , then inserted the empty casing into my M1911A1 chamber to see how much it expanded? and it still fit right in my M1911A1 chamber no problem and No Glock face on the brass (no signs of bulging)

here is a G21 SF Ambi Mag release button, notice the thinner piece , I heard sometimes this breaks, not as durable as the original Glock mag release design

for serious use as a combat handgun, I would rather have a standard magazine release as used on most Glocks
