I had mine replaced. I love my guns, but this example is a combat gun so I just wanted it to work reliably. And I had a large quatuty of g21 mags that did not have the ambi feature. I really don't mind the non matching numbers.
If you can sell it to a collector then do so, otherwise have the frame exchanged. I was lucky and was in Smyrna for something else and just dropped it off.

ETA I would not expect a new gun in exchange. But that is just me.

Just to clarify, for friend, a regular Glock 21 SF, not the Ambi slide one , Will take all the G 21 mags correct?

The fact that the ambi model won't use old gen mags was a major factor for the exchange. I actually traded into it and regretted it immediately.

And yet they continued to put the ambi release notch on ALL magazines until very recently (even models that never had an ambi version)...

I'd venture to say that they are covering the samples that remain in the wild. And since the "feature" is in place and doesn't hurt anything.

I've had my 21SF with the ambi rail for years. Works just great. Love the looks. Shoots spot on. Wouldn't trade out frames for anything. I keep the mechanism of the mag release lubed. Never a problem.

I liked the gun a lot, just had/have too many non ambi mags. I tried trading around to get the ambi mags, but other than good nature trades, nobody wanted to trade me, and I wasn't going to sell my mags at a loss to gain the newer mags. My sense was that the ambi guns were not going to take, and I turned out to be correct.

Me too. I got a great deal on my 21SF from a Deputy Sherriff in San Jose (who only qualified with it, copper grease still on slide) without the pic rail and ambi mag release and I love it. Also, this is the first I've heard of the 21SF issues. I guess I'm out of touch. I'm on here a lot but I don't post much as you all can see.

This was a very small blip on the radar and taken care of quickly out of the gate. The G21SF is fine, just the features lacked. LOL
