Lots of people do. One of the hottest types of firearm in the last 5 years. A simple search in this Forum will turn up a bunch of threads on the topic.

I have a SIG MPX “G2” SBR with a suppressor and EOTech. After a couple of “growing pains”, an extractor and tappet update - it is a reliable, soft shooting, and “most fun gun”.

Before EOTech 512, and SLT-1 trigger.

A buddy of mine has two of the CMMG Banshees with the radial delayed blowback. It has spoiled me shooting those.

He also has a MP-5 clone with the roller delayed blowback. It's almost as much fun.

Oh, and he also has a suppressor for them.

I've been trying to save up but man they are expensive!

Colt 6951. I am on my second one. Sold the first one for stupid money a couple of years ago. Just picked up my second one. I really like the platform.

Both of mine have been very reliable. Much cheaper than 5.56 and for the distance I have it for it works. Brownells and Metalform magazines work well and much cheaper than Colt magazines.

MGGLOCK9...
I built my AR15 9mm pistol before they became readily available. I had to buy parts and put it together. I already had an UZI, Mini-UZI, and a pile of mags to go with them. Seriously, the mags were CHEAP. I also had an MP5K-PDW. The AR15 in 9mm seemed like the next option, flexible SBR and all.

Is it reliable? The gun runs. The UZI mags were altered to Colt spec. with Dremel as well as a couple factory test mags.

How do you like it? AR15-9mm is the least used of my 9mm carbines. A long barrel would be the most useless. The next useless is a heavy gun that is larger than others. That is where I am with the AR15-9mm.

What do you use it for? Not much, the MP5K-PDW with binary trigger gets used a lot. It is a 100 yard plinker on steel.. It is a pocket rifle if I ever need one. I had it out the other night. Something went bump in the middle of the night and I grabbed it because it was there and I am comfortable with it, HK slap and all.

Which one would you recommend? I have a hard time recommending a AR15 in 9mm pistol. But if you have an extra receiver... Or if you register one SBR and want multiple uppers...300BL, 5.56, 458socom, then 9mm to plink. I like my HK, but I think the CZ or SIG would be the better bet if buying today.

An AR9 only serves a purpose of using Glock mags and using -slightly- (at the moment) cheaper ammo.

Otherwise it provides nothing for self defense other than being louder, heavier and more cumbersome than a 9mm pistol. Yes, it would have slightly better FPS ballistics, but not by that much, and not enough to justify the cost of 2-3 Glocks.

It DOES pass the intimidation test though, so I guess it has that going for it,

With an incorrect statement like that, I'd say you have no real world experience with the platform.

How do you like it?
I love them

Is it reliable?
Mine are all Colts and I do not recall ever having a failure

What do you use it for?
Home defense
Vehicle defense
Range fun
Training
Instructing
Sealing leaks
Non-stick cooking
Keeping leaves out of my gutters

Which one would you recommend?
Colt... since that is my experience base

Thank you for your time...
That will cost you two-cents
But since I'm cheap & easy I'll also accept a penny along with a slap on the arse

Built one on a standard AR-15 lower with a 10.5" barrel, red dot, laser, and angled foregrip. A BUIS system is mounted to the gun, but is not at all close to being accurate. Being designed for use with the 5.56 round means the elevation will be way off when shooting 9mm.
Initially used 3 Endomag adapters to feed it but have since acquired a Stern Defense Glock mag adapter. Mag changes no longer mimic the 5.56 build, but are quick and easy to do. This allows me make use of the large number of Glock mags in my possession.
It was intended to be something that would be fun for the range, but has proven to be reliable enough that it is now part of my home defense system. Admittedly, it took a little trial and error to find the right buffer/spring combination. Mine required an 8.5 oz extended length buffer with a .308 spring to run reliably and safely.
In most cases, a handgun of an appropriate caliber is more than sufficient to stop a threat. The AR-9 pistol is for those special occasions when you are faced with multiple uninvited guests and no backup. Having a longer sight radius makes it easy to hit anything with consistency out to well over 100 yards(sighted for 100 yards), and the 9mm round is ideal for anything up close and personal, too. With proper hold over, I can put rounds on target at 200 yards with decent groupings.
Those of us that live in urban areas face a rate of crime and violence that seems to be increasing exponentially with each passing year. The lack of law enforcement has put us in more danger than in the past.
Some may not see the purpose for an AR in 9mm, but it seems to be increasing in popularity. I have had 3 people tell me that they had to get one after seeing mine, and how much fun I was having with it.

FM9 upper on a 556 lower with a stern defense Mag ad9. I like it, although it took some buffer experimentation to get it to run right since I didn’t get an FM9 Glock lower as I was stubborn about wanting any lower in my safe to work with any upper. Their proprietary buffers weren’t available stand alone at the time. Recoil involves more of a push than a muzzle flip and significantly quieter than my 556 gun. Very Fun to shoot but If do it will be an off the shelf unit. Can still probably get hits at 100 yds with my carbine setup with proper holdovers.

Freedom ordinance looks like a quality entry level line. Angstadt Arms or CMMG banshee if you want to go all out.

Once you start accumulating that pile of extended glock mags it tends to make you want more platforms that will run on them.
