Right now is one of the best times to buy if you want. They are blowing them out at nearly LE pricing. My gen 5 was like 429 from KYgunco. LE pricing might be less now.
Yep...good time to buy. Picked up the 30.5 for $383 3 weeks ago. Couldn't pass it up at that price. Not seeing G21.5 non-MOS going that cheap though....unfortunately. Actually, I'm not seeing any G21.5 in a non-MOS configuration at all...which sux for those of use with eye issues that won't allow the use of a red dot. :(

If you can get an Mos gun at a reasonable price, do it.
You don't HAVE to use an RDS, or other add-on devices.

Oh...100%. If it's another sub $400...hard to say no. My only complaint on the MOS version is Gen 5 rear night sights with the wider than Gen 4 notch hang off the back of an MOS Gen 5 pistol so you have to run Gen 4 and older rear night sights unless you're okay with that happening. I find the Gen 5 to be easier/faster for my eyes to pick up the target with the wider notch.

I bought a Gen 5 22 for that much from KYGun just a few weeks back.

I'm not saying they are a poor CCW choice and never implied it.
Never said you did.

I'm talking specifically about guns used in the woods, where exposure to dirt/mud/water is much more likely....and the G30.5 doesn't have the gap that the fullsize Gen 5s do....which is why I bought both it and the 29.5 for using them for bear/moose protection duty.
And that's what I was talking about. Unless you're open carrying it. Its not as much of a concern. And even with open carry a lot of it comes down to the type of holster. How much does it cover the gun and whether you over lube it or not.
But if you're more comfortable with something with tighter tolerances I get it.

I know we’re thread drifting, but you started it 😂.
2yrs ago went to my LGS to pull some triggers, there’s what looks like a “used” pristine G30.4 in the glass. I took it apart and the copper grease was still on the slide. I don’t think it was ever fired. Got it for $400/425 can’t remember. Original sites(have since installed nites) and 2 mags.
I have plenty of mags for it since I’ve had my 30s for a few years.
Wasn’t looking for one, but especially now I’m very happy that I picked it up.

No worries. Been a member here forever but haven't posted much. Other forums I belong to don't worry about drift....natural progression of human conversation, but if the mods have a problem with it, I'm sure they'll let us know.

Just an update....

Ordered the Hyve Technologies +2 baseplate for the 9 round G30 mags. Haven't gotten the mags themselves yet, but just got the baseplate. The Hvye baseplate basically turns the grip into a much more useable/comfortable grip. Only thing I'm not sure of is the difference in overall length added compared to 13 round G21 mag and Xgrips or Pachmayr sleeve. Looks like it could be pretty close to the same added length as the fullsize mag, which means....save the $30 on the baseplate and just buy 21 mags and a sleeve of your choosing (I haven't tried the eBay ones seen in this thread as I'm tired of getting my CC info stolen every time I buy something from eBay).

Obligatory pic.

Just checked a G20.4 mag with Xgrip sleeve for a Gen 3/4 (Xgrip doen't make one for Gen 5)....it' only about 3/16-1/4" longer than the Hyve, but has a maybe ~.100" gap at the back where the backstrap channel is located. The Hyve definitely looks better, but the G21 mag and some brand of sleeve (haven't tried a Pachmayr....will order one of those and see) make more sense from the perspective of adding rounds and check the comfort box adequately. That said, I like the way this looks enough that I think I'm going to order 2-3 more for the 9 round mags I have coming. Frankly, as bulky as this is, I'm surprised you can't fit 12 rounds in it....

Thanks for the pic, Sean K. That does it for me. I won’t be getting the hyve or 9 rd mags. I have over a dozen 21 mags. I will try one of those sleeve things.
NP. Pics are worth a thousand words. Odd that so many manufacturers put pictures of their product on their site, but then zero pics of it installed on the weapon platform. IMO, Hyve are big, but comfy....and beauty is in the eye of the beer holder, so YMMV. :)

Different strokes and all that....

Oh...just ordered a Pachmayr sleeve and once I get it (they are backordered but I had to place an order for a bunch of other stuff from the same place) I'll post up the fit vs. the Xgrip.

Best wishes to ya!
