After market slides for your glocks?

For those of you who have installed aftermarket slides and/or complete uppers for your glocks, what has your experience been?

Any regrets (cost, reliability, durability...)?

Was it worth it?

There seems to be a many options out there (Zafferi, Zev, PSA...) and they look cool. But, should I just stay with the OEM glock slide (MOS and non MOS) or is it worth it to buy the cool looking ones?

I'm looking at getting a complete aftermarket upper for fun at the range and a front runner is a PSA complete slide. But I don't want to give up reliability if there are issues in that area since it could possibly be used for self defense someday. Should I get one or just keep spending on ammo 😁 ?

I just bought my second PSA Dagger complete slide for $175. It came with TruGlo night sights and DLC finish. PSA calls it complete, but it does not include a barrel or recoil spring. I have barrels and recoil springs already so I saved $80 on the slide. My previous PSA slide included the barrel, recoil spring, AND a Holosun 507C X2 Red Dot and Suppressor Height iron sights. Using it on my Glock 23, it has run flawlessly.
Obviously I am very happy with it. Should receive my new one this week. PSA gets my vote, I have several AR lowers, and uppers which run great full auto with my M16 lower. They also really support our Second Amendment.

I've used several different aftermarket slides on my builds with no issues except for Strike Industries Lite slide, which I have on a G19. It didn't want to cycle correctly. A quick Forum search revealed that the fix was either change the recoil spring due to the lack of inertia from the lighter weight of the slide, or shoot strictly +P ammo. after a few hundred rounds of +P through it, it now works fine on anything I feed it now that the moving parts have all got to know each other well.

In my experience. I found LFA slides to be a very good option. Out of all the slides I’ve bought it was the only slides I’ve dropped right on with no issues and are extremely accurate. If you get a complete LFA slide with their matchgrade barrel (fluted and crowned) like a match set. It’s super smooth. Lone wolf is ok but may need a lil tweaking. PSA is good. But I just don’t like the way it looks to me. But if you like it try it out. It’s pretty quality stuff for the price.

I strongly advise against it unless it's a fun only plinker.i don't get this and it's really irritating aftermarket slides all over the place in quality. Just about any at upper or barrel drops in flawless yet glock slides are all over the place in critical dimensions and it makes me irate .I had a patmos brand new slide and barrel and it basically came with an out of battery issue (the barrel hood was visible over the top of the slide) it was dangerous Garbage I couldn't believe they sold something like that to consumers . I had another after market slide forget the brand but it was the opposite too right and needed to be fit to a standard glock barrel to fit and close
Glock genuine OEM is absolutely nothing like the after market junk you can find .it's almost mythical how the parts are so smooth and fit perfectly together. While it might not be pretty the incredible finish and tolerances make up for that not to mention reliability

Nothing extra is required for a Gen 2, 3, or 4 frame.
Yes, I know a slide adapter is not required. Which is why it was phrased as, “What adapter if any” The if any part means it’s understood it’s not required. But some don’t like the gap it leaves without using one.

A Gen 5 frame will need the PSA backplate swapped out for a Gen 5 backplate.
I’ve long since known a Gen 3 back plate is not compatible with a Gen 5 frame
I either replace the Gen 3 type back plate with Gen 5. Or I alter the Gen 3 to Gen 5.

Glock 25.3 slide on Glock 19.5 frame. 😉

**Oh and here’s a G23.5 slide on a Gen 3 19 frame. In case you think I need any more “advice”

Another vote for the Brownell's optics-cut slides.
I have a G19.4 with one and it's been flawless. I ran 1,000 rounds through it before using it as a carry gun, with zero issues and no problems with optics mounting.

The only things I'd change about it are the top cut-out and the forward slide serrations. The cu-out hasn't offered any tangible benefits, but does trap lint, etc. I don't like forward serrations at all. They're just another abrasive surface and I was taught malfunction clearances that did NOT involve putting my hand/fingers near the muzzle of a gun.
