19 Gen 5 Front Grip Cutout

Does anyone else find the gen 5 19 uncomfortable and possibly painful due to the front grip cutout? I didn’t even fire the gun, I just held it and aimed down the sights and it was cutting into my pinkie finger really bad.

When I compared the 17 I didn’t have the issue, but the 19 was so bad that I could even consider buying the firearm. I’ll go try it again in a couple days, but first impression was very negative.

I can live with it but I wish it weren't there. All other gun makers put mag ripout cutouts on the sides of the grip not on the freaking front where your fingers grip the pistol! Glocks cutout is BAD DESIGN:

- it's not ergonomic
- it potentially snags fast reloads (which is hilarious considering that they added a flared mag well to supposedly show they are attentive to such details)
- it's not the natural way people grip mags to rip them out during malfunctions

Come on, Glock. I will not buy any more Glocks with a front cut out. It's a flawed design.

Especially this!!!

I haven't tried the Gen 5 yet. But I already know, that after years of indexing mag changes with my index finger, the tip of my finger, is going to slamb right into that stupid cutout! Glock did away with that cutout years ago, for a reason. Why on earth would they bring it back?!?!

The cutout was a bad idea on the 2nd gens and its a bad idea on the 5th gen. That being said, it doesn't bother me on the 5th gen like it did on the 2nd gen, due to the flared magwell. keeps my pinky just far enough away.

As far as magazine loads hanging up, it can do that, but I fixed the problem by beveling the inside of the cut slightly. Now It doesn't matter what angle I hit the magwell, mags insert with no issues. It's a shame Glock couldn't have figured this out and bevelled it. Oh well it's a 5 minutes super easy fix.

Do I wish it wasn't there, yes, do I care that it is there, not really.

The positives of the 5th gens outweigh the negatives at least for me and my intended use.
