I do run n guns and lately I’ve been having sciatic pain from heavier handguns. So this season I will be running with a G26 to drop the weight.

However a 19 grip frame with a 26 slide might be a great compromise. Losing slide/barrel length loses weight faster changing grip length so this might be a really nice gun to run with.

Opinion of one:
I've never owned or wanted a G26, but only because the grip is so small. I find pistols like that to be a pain to control well compared to compact or (ideally) full frame models. The first shot in a string usually went very well, but subsequent shots had an unacceptable spread.

That's why the G45 and the G19X felt like something I'd needed for a long time, a full grip to accommodate my hands and a shorter slide with the quick reciprocation that comes with that. With those considerations in mind, I can see how something like a 'G26X' could work very well for many shooters. Still quick and easy to clear a CCW holster and with a shorter 'stroke' on the slide, but with enhanced capacity and much better control through a longer grip. I've shot many Glock compact and subcompact models using standard length magazines like everyone else, but wasn't always satisfied by the lack of a continuous grip. This might fix that without the need for aftermarket accessories.

For my own curiosity I'd still want to see some comparative terminal ballistic results using the same HP cartridges between G19 length barrels and G26 and G43(X) barrels. There's no free lunch, but I do wonder if there would be too much of a capability compromise for the sake of easy concealment and relative comfort between them.

Taurus makes the G3X which is the same concept as a 26x, and sells tons of them because they're 250 bucks. They look weird with the "full size" frame and little stubby slide but there's a market for it

I don't see how sticking a 19 mag in a 26 is any different, Glocks are tools and can be easily adapted.
The G2c/G3c is almost a 26x in itself, the G3X is more like a 26 slide on a 17 frame, I only say that because I have a G3c and the grip is a good bit longer than the 26, closer to a 19 grip but only holds 12 rounds. There's a guy on ebay that makes flat bases for the G3c mags, thought about trying them but I rarely ever carry my G3c.

I want a 26L!
I don't give two poops about a 26X.
Like This??? Yeah, that's a Gen 2 Extractor... I've had this Gen 2 for a looong time!

I have a few G3s and a G3C, the G3C grip with the mag pinky extension is pretty much perfect

There's also the G3XL which is another mish mash that's kinda cool

People talk 💩 on Taurus but the G3 is a solid budget gun. I have a pile of Glocks but still own 5 G3 full sizes and a G3C, and I shoot the G3s pretty regularly . They're cheap range shooters that are fun to tinker around with

If Glock put out a 17 frame with a 26 slide Glock fans would inhale them

That concept, but just not frame chopped. That was one of the biggest selling points on the Ruger RXM for me and if they hold true to their word and release the G26 frames like they said they would, I will buy a second one. If Glock would get around and do it, I'd go that route as well.

There are those who the 26X will appeal to. I'd be more interested in a 26L. And if the 26L came with an accessory rail all the better. BTJM

Yep. I have a RXM grip module en route. Plan is to chop it to 26 length to make a 26L.

They really stepped their game up the last few years, their CEO used to be the CEO at Walther and when he came in he cracked down on the QC and CS issues.

My G3c is my nightstand gun, it's been very reliable and the Mrs prefers having a manual safety so it was kind of perfect. Yet I've had a Ruger and S&W that went away after having issues. What's crazy is people hate on Taurus over issues from years ago but no one says anything about the QC issues at S&W currently.

Anyway, I don't mind the pinky extension on the G3c. It's great on the range I just don't like it for carry. That's the part that prints worst for me. These days it's a non issue since I have a 43x but I carried the G3c a handful of times when I first got it when I wanted a few more rounds on hand. I should take it to the range soon but I have to put my 43x through its paces again first. I just swapped the trigger shoe for a smooth one, I doubt changing the shoe would affect reliability but ya never know.

A 26 with a 19 or 17 grip is just plain stupid. It should be the other way around, but hey, it's a Glock.
I heard the exact same thing parroted here non-stop when the 19x came out. Then of course the 19x became one of Glocks best sellers and the 49 which “everyone really wanted” drew crickets chirping.

A real 26x is not totally needed of course, but basically it’s the smallest full grip for draw (and RELOADS you silly mag extension pushers 😏) combined with the smallest slide that provides excellent performance. All with a ready made great holster selection of the regular 26. Sounds like they might as well make it to me 🤷‍♂️

Now this is all assuming it’s a special run from Glock and not some goofy skunkworks aftermarket item.

Have you been to the S&W board? It’s full of talk about the QC issues with S&W. Even posts here. I know I personally posted about the 442UC I refused to take due to issues it had.

I probably should have worded that differently, I've heard people talk about the QC issues at S&W what I meant was people don't go around bashing them like they do Taurus. Did Taurus earn their past reputation? Hell yes they did but credit where its due they've taken the steps to make a better product. Any time someone asks about a Taurus the answer is always "buy a used Smith" and I just don't think that's always the answer anymore.

My 642 had a few issues, there was a small chip in the barrel shank (cosmetic issue more or less), the side plate screws would come loose constantly and it had the absolute worst double action trigger I've ever pulled. The screws would come loose after just a few days of being carried and they had to be tightened after every range trip. I was going to loctite them but when I went to do it I noticed some of the threads were broken. I contacted S&W and I was going to send it in, they wouldn't let me have it sent to my work address and I just had a hard time getting a gun back from FedEx so I decided not to send it. I asked them if they could just send me the side plate screws instead since that was the main issue and they ignored me, never got a reply after that. I traded it towards my 43x with the caveat that it should go back to S&W or at least have the screws replaced. I've had some cheap revolvers that weren't nearly as bad including a Rock Island 206 and an EAA Windicator.

There's nothing wrong with them doing so and making profits. There's nothing wrong with people buying what they want. That said, you are correct because you all will buy anything Glock releases. Glock marketing team has many wrapped around their fingers. It doesn't matter what they release, if it makes sense or not, or if they barely made any changes at all.

Even when they released the G43 way late after the competition was out for years prior. They finally released a single stack right before the rest of the world was transitioning to micro-compacts. They release a single stack that was just as large as the legacy competition, but only holds 6 rounds instead of 7+1 and 8+1. That also made no sense, but the fanboys STILL acted like it was revolutionary and the greatest thing since sliced bread. Glock knows that if they make it, the fanboys will buy it.

That’s a bit hit and miss even now. And full disclosure I bought a set of 327’s back this past November. I also bought a 3” 942 that has already gone back. So while they have “made steps”. There is clearly more steps to go. Customer service is still a debacle. It’s now you call and then you either wait for up to 1.5 hours before being dumped out. (yes, I actually sat and waited for an hour and 28 minutes to speak to an agent) Or you opt for a callback that could be later that day, up to three days later. And that’s not an over exaggeration. Also forget about emailing. Have emailed twice and I’ve heard nothing back for the last two months and I check both my inbox and spam folder every other day, if not daily.
