I know this is going to cause a lot of consternation, but, for the sake of helping just one person out, I'll drop these pics here. I just took delivery of my newly grip chopped 43X from Shield Arms. Turn-around was about two weeks so not as bad as they advertise on the site. The G43 in the comparison pic wears the Magguts +2 extension The grip length is a solid two fingers with the magwell. The magwell is low profile and doesn't seem to add any girth to the grip. The length with the 12 rd magazine pictured is a full three fingers. The 10 rd magazine is flush fit.

The profile of the magazine extension is great for concealment. No printing and the bulk of the mag is in the front of the grip which hides much easier than the stock length 43X for me.

I'm hoping to hit the range this week, but if not, it will be next week while I'm in Denver. I'll update this post with a range report.

I don’t see any valid purpose for this at all. I don’t see the impact on concealment or accuracy (unless you were born with the hands of a five year old boy.
What I see is a gun you had the grip shortened and then installed a mag the same length as used in unmodified grip. Kinda defeated the purpose of shortening the grip.
I get that, from both of you. I'm guessing neither of you carry either a G43 or a 43X. In which case, you guys are the consternation I was referring to.

My 43 was the perfect carry size for me but I was always tinkering capacity via with mag extensions. I finally just bought a Hellcat, same footprint as the 43 and better capacity than the 43X.

Here's the CR920 comparison. The rear of the SA magazine's profile is the kicker for not printing. The grip angle is a bit more pronounced between the CR and 43X than I realized.

So far, and I just got it back and haven't done anything but carry if around the house, but so far, I like the size of the package. The tell will be whether the magazines are reliable. Judging by the different magazine bases, I'm pretty sure the 12rd mag will be the primary carry with the occasional 10rd for deep, deep hiding.

I can sort of see the point, but if concealment were the end goal, wouuldn't it be just as cost efficient or even more so if one were to just by a G43 frame where we could use the 43x slide on the 43 frame and then go the Mag-guts route if we wanted more capacity? I dunno. When we get into the chopped grip thing then aren't we now limited to SA mags and need the steel mag release button? Don't get me wrong, I've got a bunch of S15 mags for my 43x which FOR ME work flawlessly. But I know others who have issues with the SA mags. Just asking questions.

I have a 43 with Magguts +2. It's a great concealer, but with the +2 stuffed in, the mag doesn't drop free without a tug-which rolls into the malfunction time wasted arena. So, here are my thoughts; I have all of my other primary Glocks set up to run the same magazines. And, my Glocks are my goto, always. The commonality works for running. The 43 and 43X are the bastard kids in regards to mag compatibility. So with that in mind, if I can prove the SA mags reliable I get a G43 sized package with a 10, 12 or 15 rd option. The 12 rd conceals differently and better than the CR920 with the 13rd mag. It is what it is.

GLOCK as the original manufacturer should really consider offering an "updated G43" with a slightly thicker/wider grip and a flush-fit 8-rounder mag to go with it. The "updated G43" would then take the G43X/48's 10-rounder mag like the G26 can take longer mags. Then we won't have to get our own G43X grip-chopped by the third party company and use aftermarket mags with less-than-ideal reputations....

Not hard to conceal per se, just corners sticking out. The break in profile makes me twitch. The G43 is perfect to hide, just a journey to more capacity.

Everyone who's on about it being a waste of time or effort or whatever: It isn't for you, you didn't pay for it. :) The concept is actually pretty cool. You could probably get the SA 10 round flush mag, and hopefully they'd make a pinky extension, and be about as close to our Unicorn Glock 43 with 10+1 flush mag as we'll ever get. The small pinky extension is just for added front strap grip; the heel would remain short and very easy to conceal, if that's your deal. Ryhme Time, but I digress. :ROFLMAO:

I ended up just settling for the Glock 43 as is at 6+1 capacity, and if I get the bug for more capacity, I have the following options I'll carry something like my P365 or Hellcat. I have several others in this category, as this is how I like to collect. All the modern and relevant carry and duty stuff from my era, here. Hopefully, I'll have them all, and it'll be neat to look back on it all.

@kiser64 I think it's a cool concept, and I'm hoping the SA mags are rock solid for you. I may have missed this as I did read the whole thread, but you are using a steel mag release on it now? Has Shield Arms hinted at a pinky extension akin to the OEM Glock 43 pinky extension?

The grip chop package comes with the mag release, magwell and two 10rd magazines. I haven't heard of an extension for the 10s, but the 12rd extended mag hides well and is pretty much the length of the magguts +2 mag.

As a side note- I hope this chop works out. I'm hopeful that SA has all of the bugs worked out. I'm going to disassemble one of the mags and see if the internals are compatible with any Glock mag parts, just for my own edification. If the package proves reliable, I have a few more G43x frames that I'll send to get chopped to pass on to others who are interested. Again, time and rounds will tell.

@Mike Papa Your earlier thread was what got me interested in this chop. I'm impressed with your final product. I just didn't have the wherewithal to do it myself. I can't wait to get this thing out to the range.

I had been waiting for updates on this. So what did the final capacity end up being? Refresh me without having to dig through the thread myself. :D Interesting discussion. I'm willing to bet just the flatter backstrap of this than on the smaller Glocks makes it much nicer in hand.

Get it out soon, and we need a range rep. :) Even if it doesn't perform well, which I'm sure it will perform great, we need that rep.

I'm glad to see the "Factory Shield" conversion here. Since I'm cheap, I used their idea and did it myself. Because I was worried about possibly messing up a good Glock frame, I went with the PSA Micro Dagger frame as a source ($59) and it came out well. I run the Shield Arms mag release and their 10 rounder mag, with a 15 rounder as a spare. I had one of their 15 rounders give me some issues, but I have 4 others that have been flawless.

Looks like a handy little piece. Let us know how it runs.
