Is it just me or does the A1K really impress anyone else? I'm having a very hard time not picking one of these up, especially after handling and shooting one.

I can't find a thing about it I don't like.

Don’t own one yet but as a huge HK fan and owner of VP9’s and VP9sk’s and almost all of their hammer fired pistols
I’d say buy with 100% confidence! I’ll eventually pick up the A1K.
It seems you’ve shot one and seemed pleased with it! Go for it!!!

I’m pretty intrigued. I own a VP9 and it seems to be similar in size to a Glock 17. My understanding is that the K model cuts the grip down to make the gun closer to a Glock 19. Is that about right?

What other upgrades are in these newer models compared to the older VP9?

Improved outer and inner coatings. Better, smoother trigger. The grip as you mentioned, no front finger grooves, I think more of a variety of grip panels, new case and packaging, comes with blacked out rear sights and green front sight with tritium viles. Redesigned cocking tabs-ears, the cocking serrations are bit different. No cut out under the trigger, it’s a flat surface there.

That's about it. I carry a 19.5 MOS on duty so I was able to directly compare it to the A1K. The K is the same size as the 19 overall. H&K did good on building this model as I see it as a direct competitor to the 19. Yes it is more expensive, but the ergos are better, the trigger compared to a factory Glock is better, the sights compared to factory Glock sights are better, and their optic mounting system is better than the MOS IMO. It also just feels like a better built pistol, but that's subjective.

My wife and I had a chance to try one out an an HK Dealer Event day at our local range. Neither of us found anything special about it. Decent gun, but that's about it.

Did try out the CC9 too, again; decent gun - but it shot/handled pretty much the same as every other micro 9 that I have shot/handled. (Neither one of us are micro 9 fans.)

We have both owned HKs before (several P7M8s and a P30) so we are not "anti-HK", but just didn't find these new offerings to be anything really special - for us anyways.

Have you done a detail strip on it yet?
I have done several parts changes on legacy H&K pistols, so I am well aware of all the drama when detailing them. With that though, With all of the H&K pistols I have experience with, there typically isn't any reason to detail strip them to keep them up and running correctly generally.

I have detailed stripped the PPQ and PDP platforms, very close operating system, and if your not a drinker, you will sure think about starting. :D

Yeah that was just a bit of sarcasm. I love my VP9 too. (2020 optics-ready version w/ 17 rounders)

There was just something about the K model when I picked it up. I have always appreciated H&K and their pistols and quality, but never had one permanently, had a VP9 T&E pistol when they first came out, but at the time there was no duty holster support. Lots of duty holster options came out, but I never revisited it.

I almost switched to a P30 several years back, loved the pistol, but since I was all in with stiker guns at that point, I didn't feel the need to move back to a traditional DA/SA.

This K model checks all the boxes for me right now, G19 sized, duty holster support, and the platform is proven. I have had the itch for a new duty platform for a while, but nothing seemed to fit my personal criteria any better than the G19.5 MOS. This seems it may be the one that does it, and I'm having a really hard time not getting one right now. :)

I am new to HK. I started with a CC9 about a month ago and really liked how “solid” it felt. As stated above, there isn’t a great difference between it and other micro 9s. However my LGS was clearing out the standard VP9 at $499. I went ahead and grabbed one for that price. I haven’t shot it yet but like how it feels.

The CC9 does draw my interest a bit.

I like small carry guns and I like the idea of HK's reputation for quality & reliability but it's bigger than my preferred G43/P365 size, so it would need to be some kind of micro magic to really win me over.

But even though I feel like I "should" like HK, they generally just don't catch my interest, including these new A1 guns.

I had the same feeling about SIG Sauer in the 90s. They seemed like the guns to have but I just didn't feel the need to own one. Same with HK.

I just purchased both an F and K model and waiting to take delivery of them. The wait is driving me crazy. Does anyone know of any leather holster makers that can make me a holster for these pistols?

Handled one at my LGS yesterday. Feels good in the hand. I like that it doesn't have finger grooves. The trigger is definitely better than the OG VP9 and I like the sights. But $829 before tax? Holy crap! I'll wait to find one used.

Wish the VP9SK had not been discontinued. Not sure if I want to pick up the A1 K

I know! I feel the same way with their p2000/sk series. Good news is I have all of the above but still.
Owning both the VP9SK and now (not shoot yet) A1 K. The sk’s slide is shorter and grip has the finger grooves. I carry the VP9sk with the 13rd magazine so they are dang near the same in that respect. Obviously if it had the flush mag it would be shorter than the A1 K.
The flat front of the A1 K’s grip makes it “feel” slimmer and less bulbous. I think it will feel flatter against your body when carried, more like the p2000 series yet lighter.
My VP9sk is not cut for an optic but I have night sights on it.
I just now compared the two in hand. Personally I feel the A1K balances slightly better in hand.
Hope this helps a bit.
