Has anyone logged a lot of rounds with their GX4? How has it performed? Any issues? How is accuracy compared to similar pistols? Worth $250?

I've logged about 100 rounds through mine, but most of the time I was dealing with the old GX4 reset problem. There's enough "play" in the trigger mechanism to cause the sear not to be engaged. This only happens if pressure (however slight) is applied to the left. To the right...no problem. In researching the matter, I'm finding that I'm far from alone here, so unless I get some remedy from my LGS as far as a refund/credit goes, it'll have to go back to Taurus. However, what's to say it can't happen again? So, since I didn't pay all that much for it I just may part it out and take my licks. Naturally, I'll pull the FCU out of the grip frame and toss it. Hey, yours may be just fine, but I know I'll never carry this one as a SD weapon. Good luck!

Never owned a GX4 and this is one of the reasons....there seems to be some issue with the sear. Being hearing about this since they came out....that and the recall kinda soured my interest in the GX4. Not thrilled by the looks or ergos either, but that's just a personal thing.
I am a fan and have been impressed by the G3C....the GX4 not so much. On my 3rd G3C just picked up another one after regretting selling the other two, but not real interested in the GX4. Never in my life thought I'd regret getting rid of a Taurus...but I did.

I also picked up a pair of G3Cs because the price was right and I hated dedicating a Glock to HD duties in my present situation with a home invasion about as remote as eggs for $.79/dozen and gasoline for less than two dollars a gallon. Both have proven reliable for about 100 rounds each, including a couple mags of my CC ammo (Federal HST 124-grain standard pressure).
However, now that I've got one dedicated to HD with my Olight, I'm thinking I'd add another GX4 to the other GX4 I currently own. I've got a pair of holsters for that model and the other one has a Viridian green laser. I'm looking at another one at the LGS that appears to have ZERO rounds downrange (for whatever reason). The price is $250 OTD in cash, but I'm questioning if I should just stick with the second G3C, even though it's not as convenient for CC.

Not sure if you've heard yet but Taurus just recently released the GX2...

A little bigger than the Gx4...and hopefully no sear issues. There's been rumors the G3C is gonna be dropped from the line-up for this new pistol...foolish idea IMO if true...but thought I'd hedge my bets and get another G3C just in case it's true.

I should have done my homework before buying, but it's too late now. I did run my serial# by the Taurus "recall" listing and they said mine wasn't affected. perhaps that was another matter altogether. And as far as the GX2 goes, it's in the same family as the GX4, so I wouldn't trust that one either. I do have a G3C that runs like a top though, so I think I'm going to draw the line on any further Taurus purchases.

I don't need the frame rail because I've got it covered with the G3C, but it looks like a nice pistol.
The og shields were going for $300 new plus extra mags and bag in the package a few years. I have a feeling that’s done now though.
id much rather carry a 8+1 shield than a 10+1 or 12+1 Taurus.

I purchased one when they first came out. I had it for just under two years. I actually put just over 2000 rounds through it, various ammo of all kinds. I never had a failure due to the gun, had a two or three failures with some FMJ, never any with JHP. It was solid but once some other guns came into my inventory, it just sat. I sold it to a friend who needed something inexpensive for defensive carry.
I think Taurus is fine for a gun that doesn't see lots of shooting over time. That is just an opinion, with no research or data to back it. I say that as we know that a Glock, Sig, HK, etc, can last thousands of rounds before a hard failure. I don't know if there is any data on a long term Taurus, like a GX4. I know most folks will probably not shoot thousands of rounds through a single gun, so probably not an issue. I had a Sig 229 that I shot over 7000 rounds, and a Gen 4 G19 that I put over 6000 rounds through it, but most of my guns don't see that much use. That Sig went hard down just over 6000 rounds when its recoil spring snapped in half, jamming the slide. SIG said their recoil springs should be replaced every 3000 rounds, went twice that. Now I know. How long does a Taurus GX4 recoil spring last, don't know..

@snowbird.40 The Beretta APX A1 or Springfield Arms XD Mod 3 are far superior L.E./military grade pistols that will far outlast Taurus. Taurus revolvers are a great bargain compared to other options..... Taurus semiautos, not so much so.
I guess I'll be the voice of dissent. I've had one since May of 2023. I've put over 1,000 rounds (approximately 1,500 I think) of various ammo through it. I had some fail to feed in the first 200 rounds but after that, no issues. It has become my daily carry. Sometimes I'll feel like carrying a full size G17 or a Beretta PX4 CC but most of the time it's this GX4XL. In the "maintenance drills" I shoot, Bill drill, super test, five yard round up, and dot torture, I score just as well and sometimes better than with my full size guns. I like the gun so much, I've purchased another one and set it up identically to the first. Once vetted, it will be my carry gun and the old one will be a dedicated training gun. With their rebate going on right now I didn't feel too bad about spending $260 on a second one. Three of the guys I work with shot mine and decided to buy their own. I don't believe they shoot as much as I do but none of them have told me about any issues with their guns. The guns also just fit in my hand well. I have medium sized hands so someone with larger hands might not find it as comfortable.
I'm not saying Taurus hasn't had issues or saying the GX4 line hasn't had issues. Just sharing my experiences. Others have made valid points regarding other options as well.

Purchased a GX4 Carry last month and have shot ~100 rounds. Easy to shoot, great grip texture, and trigger is crisp with a good reset. Steel sights and direct optic mount. I would recommend this gun for an edc option.

They aren't trash, but I think the point people trying to make is why buy a Hyundai Elantra when you can buy a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic for around the same price? It just doesn't make sense. Their revolvers, Gx4, and TX22 makes sense because the competition cost more. The Taurus compacts and full-sized pistols don't make sense and are objectively a much lower tier product by a manufacturer with lower tier customer service
Yep, I'm not disagreeing with other's opinions on other options being available. I've had the luxury of owning a Shield and a G48MOS in addition to the GX4XL. I just happen to shoot the Taurus better than the others and enjoyed shooting it more as well. That's why I personally ended up embracing it. But we live in a great time when there are so many quality options available for a decent price!
