I bought a Glock 19 gen 5 mos about a year ago and put about 1000 rounds through it at our local New Jersey range (Full Metal Jacket). I did occasionally add a Feyachi light and sometimes a Dark Hour standoff device/compensator but sometimes shot with neither. After one year of careful use the polymer broke through the slot on the pic rail. I showed the guys at the range who are Glock Armorers and they said it should be covered under warranty so send it back to the factory which I did. I got a call back this week from Glock who said it was not covered by the warranty and the devices on the pic rail caused the failure.I asked if that means that the pic rail is just ornamental and should not be used. No real answer. So it cost me $40 to send it to them and I guess they will charge me to send it back plus the $100 they are charging me for a new frame.
With all due respect, I think this sucks. The gun looks brand new because I take great care of it and never dropped it. I did not use a holster because the range does not allow it. I guess I will have to sell it so I can buy a gun with a real pic rail that I can use. So much for Glock perfection. By the way I happened to watch a video today with Taran Butler who has a Dark Hour Standoff device on his Glock 19 and really likes it. I guess I should warn him not to use it
