I had bought an optics ready slide for my original VP9. My match version came optics ready. I'd really like to find a complete frame for my iron sight slide now.

I also agree with you that I'd like to see them do a USP optic ready with a pic rail.

I may sound bitter in this but this new vp9 a1 is a bummer to be. I (subjectively speaking) don't really like this trend of every manufacturer going towards overly choppy, slide cutty, railed out, optics ready, double stack 9mm'y. I'm bummed that guns have been pidgenholed into being ar15's or striker fired 9mm's (if not 1911, "cowboy guns," or ww2 replicas). Gone are the days of unique designs such as the Benelli b76, or Hk p9s. I know, I know "those are not practical, they're too expensive, no one would want that in tWo ThOUsAnD tWentY fIvE."

That's kinda hot, but it's too close to what a standard VP9 already is...
I like my VP9, but it already had the ability to use 17+1 (came with 15+1 when I originally bought it). I prefer how it fits my hand and how it shoots to my other guns (with the exception of the SIG P6/225, which is the other "just right" gun for me!).

Nothing about the new gun excites me enough to go out and get one, but options are good. It was always a near-G19 sized gun, falling in between the G19 and the larger G17. I am not sure how going larger is the better choice, but that is what they went with.

I really do like my VP9. There are many more options on the market now than when I bought mine years ago. I won't part with my VP9, but I don't see me adding one, either. As Para-bellum noted, if they did a thoughtful update of the USP, that would be more interesting to me.

True, and one reason they won't do updates on something cool like the USP, is the VP9 is a cheaper and more easily mass produced firearm than the USP is. I'd imagine, I don't know that for a fact, but I'm pretty sure a VP9 costs them less to make. So, why upgrade something that was/is like more prohibitively expensive to both them and their customers. Quantity has a quality all its own, regardless of what the quality guys say. :D

Good to see but nothing that would make me want to replace my original VP9 that I bought new shortly after it came out and has been a fantastic and totally reliable pistol. I still carry my Gen 2 Glock 19 that I bought new thirty years ago too though.

I think that is accurate. McDonald's crushes Ruth's Chris ("quantity has a quality all its own").

Comparing my USP's and my VP9, the VP9 certainly feels more simple. The VP9, XD, S&W M&P, SIG 320, and Glock all feel like they would be cheaper to make and assemble than a USP.

I am sure they have their reasons. But they didn't do anything that excited me with this. Perhaps others will fall in love with it and feel it is special and worthy of an unplanned trip (like one craving the McRib!). We shall see!

Same.

The guns that have my attention are doing something I feel is better in a new format. The Shadow Systems CR920 and the Ruger RXM both have me curious! Neither are "new" in terms of function, but are newer entrants with twists and tweaks on an older design.

The new VP9 feels more like a Glock Gen5 to me. Perhaps slightly improved, but so similar to prior versions that my wallet sits idle in my pocket trying to be excited and jump out... but failing. Nice. Good. But "meh".

I just read on another forum that the new style trigger bar will be available and will fit the existing VP9s that are already out there. From what I read is that it is the same as the existing trigger bar but a better coating on it.

Saw this new video too but have not watched it yet as is over an hour long.

As a dedicated and loyal HK fanboy I’ll be honest… I’m torn about it all. Mainly because they are discontinuing the original VP9/VP9sk and my favorite and beloved P2000 line.
I see understand both sides of the coin but I’m still not happy about it.
At some point down the road I’ll probably pick up the new A1/K size but I’m in NO hurry and don’t really care. It’ll be great but still. HK-PLEASE don’t turn your striker line into an Sig P320 mess!!

I’ll get the K sized one down the line when they offer a rebate. This has made my mind up to send my p30sk and USPC to wright armory. My expert will remain untouched.

Kinda VP9, Kinda Glock, does more or less the same job. It shoots 9mm reliably and accurately, and will probably last as long as either one
Not hating on that pistol but Hks are generally more robust and go higher round count without more then cleaning then most other poly wonder 9s

VP9F/VP9K should have been the thing in 2014 when the VP9 was brand-new, but in true HK fashion, they had to potentially miss out on a contract to do it. I also don't get ditching the standard VP9 and SK models since they are already discontinuing the P2000 and P2000sk, you would think they would want the full range in their premier model. And yes, for those wanting an updated USP/HK45/P30; the VP9 outsells all of those combined 10 to 1. Hard to believe, but the VP9 has been insanely popular for HK.

I am a huge HK fanboy and they are my favorite brand but this almost makes me want to sell off my VP9s and just get a couple of Glock 19s on principle. Glock got it right from the start and hasn't discontinued any of the different sizes despite new generations and a few new options (crossovers) coming out. Respect for that.

The vp9 outsells them because people are riding this striker craze. I like my vp9 a lot but the USP and p30 are far better pistols imo. ESP the USP. I don’t own a p2000 but I’m sure it’s also great.

Don’t sell them off. I bet HK USA has some new stuff coming out this year. CZ has been disappointing me lately as well and these are my 2 favorite manufacturers. Hopefully this year brings some good stuff.

The P2000 is fantastic!!! So dumb of HK getting rid of their best sized and melted USP build quality hammer fired offering. IMHO anyway.
