Hey there, shotgun guys, got a quick question for you:

I want to replace the SB Technical brace/grip adapter on my firearm
Image

with a TacStar AR-15 adapter and then add a KynShot RB-5100 5-position recoil damper for shotguns and an SB Tactical SBA-3 or SBA4 brace

I'm like 99.99% sure that it's legal to do this but I just like to check with those in the know to make sure. Any and all replies and advice are greatly appreciated! 👍

not fully on topic, but I shot a 12 gauge shockwave for the first time today

I believe attaching a brace to a Shockwave is bad legal juju, unless you register it as an NFA item. I'm also not an expert. ;)

Now, for a gratuitous Shockwave photo:

It's a hoot to shoot! 🤠

When I purchased my Mossberg Shockwave when it literally first came out, I thought wow, is this really legal. And the answer was yes as long as you kept the birdshead grip which is how it got around the SBR conundrum. I recall the deal was that if you replaced it with a shoulder stock, brace or pistol grip, it would turn it into an NFA item and without a tax stamp and proper paperwork, possession of that modified Shockwave would be illegal.

I'll add my own personal note: I believe that the Shockwave would be more "painful" to fire (especially with a "brace" with a contact surface that is not contoured like a real stock) than to fire it as it comes from the factory with the birdshead grip.

All further add that the Defender Tactical Rear Grip Enhancer Kit makes the Shockwave super easy to fire and control recoil. And, of course, it's legal. :) Best accessory for the Shockwave!

You're rare
You have no idea how true that is because my wife was also born and raised right here in Broward County! I always tell people that meet us they should play the lottery! 😂🤪😎

How about the different TALON Grip offerings?

I have to wonder, if it's illegal to add a brace to the Shockwave, why does SB Tactical make one?

I have shot mine at the range with no issues and no questions asked but that was before all of this ATF brace BS!

Since the ATF got "throat punched" on the brace issue I'm thinking all is well, however, I too am not an expert on this subject.

I mean, if it's legal to have a brace on an AR or AK pistol, why not a Shockwave?

From the Defender Tactical website. Take it for what it's worth...

I filed my form 1 on my tac 14 and brace and called it a day.
Best $200 I ever spent!
That SBS is a very soft shooting weapon. View attachment 1353872
Silencer Shop makes it real easy if you already have an account.
That looks great! 😲

Maybe I will give silencer shop a call and just get more information because mine would be going into our NFA trust and I know that now requires photos and fingerprints from me and my wife (and eventually our daughter when she's old enough).

You definitely gave me something to think about! 👍
