I need some help or some tips to get some new magazines loaded. I have NEVER struggled like I have with these Sig 365 X Macro mags. The pistol is a few months old now and these things aren’t getting any easier.

They are 17 rounders and I’ve managed to fully get 17 into only one of the factory provided mags. The other two have been loaded with 16 rounds for a few weeks sitting in the safe waiting to hopefully soften. I’m a pretty burly dude with good hand strength and am on the struggle bus.

I did manage to get a 17th round into a second mag but it won’t seat into the pistol fully so it’s only partially in there apparently (although it looks like it’s successfully loaded).

I’ve also been unsuccessful using a mag loader.

What tips or tricks would you suggest? Anyone else run into this issue with these particular magazines? I have loaded plenty of stuff mags in my day but these have left me frustrated and befuddled.

Thanks!

I was extremely frustrated with my 365X mags when I got the gun about a year ago. I have never been unable to load mags. I sent a pic of my thumb sliced open by the feed lips on one of the mags to Sig. They sent me two replacement mags, which are exactly the same. I bought a MagLula Uplula and I cannot believe I haven't had one of these things anyway. A poster on either this forum or another said their range has one on a chain at each shooting station. It gets shooters in and out faster, making the range more money. Now I use this on all my pistol mags.

Well that makes me feel better because it’s crazy how difficult they are. One in particular is a struggle to even get 10-12 in at a time. I’ve thought about contacting Sig as well, especially for what they charge for their mags!

I appreciate the reply

Holy ****! Ya, that’s about what I’m up against. Know that you’ve bled for a noble cause and have made me feel better about these stupid magazines! Lol

It might be worth taking the mags apart and reassembling them. Check to see if something is causing the spring to bind. The Maglula may help you load mag without tearing up your thumb. I’d call SIG regardless to see what they’ll do for you because they might exchange your mags.

Could go one less round for a bit till they are more manageable... unless of course you are struggling with them even then. The mag loader they linked you to is a good one. I hate struggling with difficult mags. You don’t want to end up having a DannyB level injury… hey Danny were you up to date on your Tetanus shot? Reminds me to do the same now that I think about it.

Hmmm...

I've got 4 17 rounders and while stiff for the last couple, they all load ok by hand. I bought mine used here on GT so I don't know if they started stiffer and then broke in or there's just a difference between batches.

So that's no help. But here's an idea:

Sometimes I download them by 2. Not because they can't be loaded but because it helps me track ammo better.

I load all 15 & 17 round mags with 15
And all 10 & 12 round mags with 10.

Since I have about an equal amount, each smaller and larger pair of mags is 25 rounds and 4 mags equals a box of ammo.

When I come home from shooting, it's quicker and easier to know how many rounds I shot.

Obviously an X Macro won't be taking 10, 12, & 15 round mags but you get the idea. Counting by 15s is easier math than by 17s.

Calling Sig may just be spinning your wheels. They know about the issue. The way I look at it now is, what do we want--clunky mags that hold fewer rounds and easy to load, or a lean mean higher capacity weapon? I guess to get that many rounds in less space it had to be this way. I managed to get all twelve in my son's 365XL one time, but usually eleven in his or mine, before Maglula.

This Sig is the first time I've ever struggled with mags, and have never even used the loaders that come with Glocks. This Maglula is so fine that there is no way I'm ashamed to be seen with it. You can fill up a pile of Glock mags faster than ever. I bought the yellow/green one so I can see it in the bag easier.

I've got the same problem with a S&W M&P 45acp. It's almost impossible to get 10 rounds into a magazine even with my handy Lapula loader. I even shortened the mag spring with no help. I just resigned myself to load 9 rounds plus one in the chamber.
