If I may bud in.....I have bought, but never fired the Aguila Super Extra copper washed/coated 40gr. Bought from Cabela's when it was all they had at a decent price.
This thread got me to inspect the boxes I have. None were sticky or coated with any goo compared to a box of CCI Mini Mags.
I'm planning on going to the range tomorrow to fire out of a semi-auto. Got me thinking that I should mic the bullets to see if they are swaged larger than my MM's.
I'll measure and post results. I have a very precise micrometer. If they are in fact oversized, I can always save those for my .22 revolvers and lever-action. Don't want any OOB's out of my semi.

Ok guys,
Mic'ed both and here is what I found:
CCI MM 40gr: case .223", bullet .223"
Aguila SE: case .224", bullet .224"
Consistent on several rounds measured.
A thousandths doesn't give me much worries, so I'll try them at the range tomorrow. Will let you know.
The only thing I heard negative about Aguila is the smell of the burnt powder is bad/funny/different than the .22 ammo we are used to.
Oh, forgot to say, that when I micked the Aguila, there was just a very small trace of a waxy substance on the metal calipers when measuring the lead. Very minute, but what might have been the cause of the goo if the ammo was stored/kept in a warm place. None on the CCI.

Well it shipped from the distributor via UPS and I got it yesterday. Do you think temps in the back of a UPS truck this time of year in Texas would cause it ? Could be I guess. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow anyway. Thanks for the input !
I don't know how long it'd take, or at what temps for a short period of time. You'll know for sure sure when you fire it, because the failure rate will be extreme. It could just just be the way this batch of ammo is and it's perfectly fine. I have never bought this ammo though, so I have no experience with how it's supposed to be. The ammo that I left in my trunk over the summer was Remington and your description put me in mind of that.

Well, I've got magazines loaded and will be at the range when they open in the morning. It's an indoor range and no A/C so I try to go early before it gets really hot in there. So, I'll see how it goes.

My range is also indoors with no AC/heat. Just ventilation and fans. Terrible in the summer and freezing in the winter. Even worse when it's the weekend and the range is always full that adds to the CO2, body heat, powder burning and smelly guys. Being retired, I usually have the range to myself during the week.
If the cartridges are really gummed up, I'd take a dry paper towel or an old sock/t-shirt and wipe them clean of the goo. A chore, but do them while watching TV and you'll be done before the show is over not even thinking about it.
Think about doing this before you go to the range tomorrow to fire that mag.

Yep, I'll use it for my constant plinking no matter the dirt or smell. Just have to clean more often. Price was right.
Rimfires are always dirty, but fun for what they are. A Marlin 60 tube fed and a few of hundred Aguila's are an inexpensive and fun day on steel plates off the porch.
Not looking for any better accuracy or reliability. Just plain plinking fun and can always rechamber or toss dud rounds.
Cheap fun burning up cheap rounds and Ill use them up and go on to something else. Won't take me long to do that.

Back when ammo was scarce and $ I bought some Federal White box bulk, Aguila, and Norma Tac22. Whatever I could get really. I am using it up now and even gifting some to shooting friends and have laid in a LOT of Mini Mags for use going forward. I haven't had trouble with those three but want to go to copper plated assuming I will get less leading. Not that I have seen leading so far.

It’s gross. There is no need to slather lube all over that ammo like that….unless you’re firing it from some crappy “zip gun” or something. I did fire some of that Norma that was just crusty with it…I still don’t get it? Why smear a teaspoon of grease on every cartridge? So what it got a bit warm in a car trunk? Why all that lube/grease all over each cartridge?
Agwilla is terrible ammo!!! There I said it! Buy it and get what you deserve.

Back from the range with my Glock 44 and some really "cruddy" Aguila 22 ammo.

Shot about 200 rounds and had zero failures of any kind firing or ejecting the ammo. I'm sure it was just as accurate at anything else, and I don't know how these guys claim one ammo is more accurate than any other ammo without some sort of holding device and some pretty exotic measuring devices so I'll just take their word for it when they say one ammo is more accurate than another.

Got home and cleaned the gun. Without question there was more crap and garbage in the barrel before cleaning, and it took quite a bit more cleaning to get the barrel completely cleaned again. It was no problem, just took more passes through the barrel with cleaner and patches.

So, I've got about 4000 rounds of this now and I guess I'll just keep on shooting it until it's gone. Someone did mention that when it is cold it would be more of a problem so I'll just have to wait and see about that. It's going to be 106 degrees here for the next week or two so I'm pretty sure that won't cause it any feeding or ejecting issues.

CCI is consistently the best 22 ammo. Even the CCI blazers are excellent for a non-plated bullet. But I wouldn't worry too much about the excess lube on the aguila ammo, it might just burn off when you shoot it. If not, you might jsut have to clean your gun after shooting it, no big deal.

No thanks, I'm not wiping down individual rounds for a 22 for any reason. If I have to do that, I'll send the crap back to them.

I usually clean my gun after shooting most times anyway so that's not a big deal. I have some CCI and it is good ammo but I shoot other ammo too that shoots just as well and is cheaper....like Aguila.

Glad it works.
What's a little crud?
Yea I agree. Biggest thing that was noticeable was that the rounds would actually stick on the feed lips as I was loading magazines. The round would just sit there and not drop all the way down and sometimes I had to push it a little farther down to get it to drop. And sometimes I just jostle the magazines to let the rounds settle out after the mag is loaded but when you shook these in the magazine, they did not "jostle" around at all. Didn't seem to cause any problems though.

I shot my semi rifle today and had no malfunctions with the Aguila. Burnt powder smells weird compared to the US ammo I'm used to. Barrel needs a good cleaning though after a box of 50. As accurate as the MM's I also shot. But, that was only 25 yards in an indoor range.
That is really unfortunate mavs, about them sticking on the feed lips. Mine had no hesitation in loading and were as dry as the MM's. What exactly is the type you have? Mine are Super-Extra 40gr copper plated. Their website calls them High-Velocity now.
Bummer that you have 4,000 to deal with. I only bought a half brick of 500.
I'll blow through mine quickly for break in and sighting in because my rifle is brand new and the mags hold 25 rounds. No keyholing at all, even at the last of the box when the barrel was very dirty.

Mine are 22 Super Extra, 38 grain, hollow point, copper plated.

But I have a couple thousand Super Extra, 40 grain, copper plated, round point that I have been loading in my wife's gun and they are just fine. Maybe a little sticky but not anywhere near like these.

I have contacted TargetSportsUSA and they are looking into it. If they will take them back and pay the shipping, in addition to replace them with some other ammo, I'll send it back rather than mess with this stuff. Otherwise I'll just shoot it up and wash my hands a lot.

Thanks for your information and experience.
