A new steel framed P320 X-Five is hitting the market. At 49.5oz, it’s a heavyweight. In fact, it’s a few ounces heavier than Sig’s P226 X-Five models.

I’m actually pretty intrigued by it. May have to check it out. I’m not a fan of the P320 as a polymer carry gun or duty gun, but I love my AXG Legion and may like this even more.
Based upon your prior reports about some of the higher end current SIG models, I was looking at a few of these out of curiosity. I think a Shadow II and SS CR920 might be in queue before another SIG, but who knows?

In addition to the 320 interest, my email just got info from SIG touting the new P226 Reserve Collection X5. The one below is spec'd at 48.1oz.

I think the forum needs you to make some purchases (when they are fully released), take some photos on the Beige Background, and offer up some insights into how you feel they stack up. For me, the 320 is more intriguing because I am not a collector and am not spending thousands for a gun at this point (I have my eye on a new Omega watch, so that is where my play money is pointed!).

Here is the info from the email and web site

Yeah I started a thread on that one also.

As nice as it is, I don’t think I’ll get that one because I have both the Classic and Legion P226 X-Fives. I do think I’ll get the P320 SXG at some point.

I walk back my thought this is a dud.

IF this isn't 1,700 bucks, or even 1,500...they might have something going.

That said, we both got the S&W metal M&P, both don't still have it...I don't know. It looks interesting, but the weight is what it brings...but not much else over a V or AXG...so it's going to have to be priced reasonable. Might be the ONE to get if it's reasonable...

It’s almost 50oz empty. It’s quite a bit heavier than the AXG. My Legion AXG is only 36oz and that’s with the comp on the end.

The difference is huge.

I don’t shoot that, but I still may have to have one. ;)

Not sure of the price, but thinking a couple hundred more than the AXG Legion
A local store has them priced $1,803.95 but they don't have one in stock yet.

The P320 SXG has been released and I handled one for the first time today. Feels great in hand and definitely heavy. The trigger was similar to other P320’s, which was disappointing. Not terrible, but disappointing. I had hoped Sig would have done something better with the trigger, but my P320 SXG Legion is the same so there’s no rational reason for that thinking. I do like the look and feel of the trigger shape itself, which is different than any P320 before this.

Overall though, the gun felt high quality with a nice matte stainless finish and a very solid feel. It felt to be near 50oz, but I had no method of weighing it at the gun shop.

While I’m NOT a lover of the P320, an all steel version is one I might explore. I do like the AXG Legion model I have. The Legion is comped and this o e isn’t, but the steel frame makes a big difference.

Just some thoughts. Price was $1850.

But....why in the earth did they make a heavy steel 320...then skeletonize the slide. haha, the point just evading sense :)
Slide cuts aren't about reducing total weight of a firearm but often times are to reduce the weight of the moving mass to reduce muzzle rise. Heavy bottom end + light top end means the gun doesn't move much while shooting.
