It took me a while to realize how hokey the books were. I am a science fictioneer and I had sooner believe in LGM and BEMs than Reacher. Or at least H.H.

I struggled to finish Season 2. I was a bit worried that the next seasons would be as poor. Now I don't have to concern myself.

Andrew Child isn't cutting it either as his brother's replacement as the author of the chain of novels.

Andrew Grant (born 1968) is a British writer, and is the younger brother of bestselling thriller writer Lee Child. Grant is in the process of taking over the writing of Lee Child's Jack Reacher series of thrillers, writing under the new pseudonym Andrew Child. I think this means the books won't be as good anymore either.

Too bad, because i really used to enjoy those books and I liked the TV series as well. And when a TV series is based on a book, it really helps if the author has creative control over the script.

"Bosch" was a great example of this and so was "Justified" and with Justified the quality of the entire production was nowhere near as good after Elmore Leonard died

I've been unable to get more than halfway through the second season. It stalled, badly. It's become typical Hollywood pap.

Even the Road House remake was better and more imaginative ... and that feels weird to write.

roadhouse if it wasn't roadhouses remake would be a decent summer blockuster. It was 85% and I didn't consider turning it off halfway. For the impossibility of competing with what was they did pretty good.

surprisingly true, Tom made a great flick.

That Tom Cruise at what 5’ 6”? Can act enough to be slightly believable as a bad ass able to take on multiple trained attackers.
I liked first season. Except when he tried to act. When he was quiet, let his size matter it was fine.
That he is such a idiot in real life.

I lost interest in the way the second season of Reacher was scripted and directed, anyway, and stopped watching it some time ago.

Actors who decide they don't mind risking alienating any of their audiences by stepping into the political and social justice arenas ought to feel free to do so, but also not be surprised if some members of their audience decide to stop watching their work.

As the story goes. Not just a one time thing. Once in his younger years as a teen. The other more recent time was with a studio exec. There was a threat of ending his career if he didn't participate. Shortly after he made a suicide attempt. This guy has a f ton of issues.

Yeah he is Bi-polar. He's made statements in the past on various outlets discussing it & that he's coping with various treatments. Guess they aren't helping his I.Q. when it comes to him seeing the real world accurately.

Even if he hadn’t admitted it. There are two interviews he did where even a 2nd year psych student could spot it. The fact that he’s admitted to taking what’s necessary to enhance testosterone production to achieve his current size isn’t doing him any favors with his disorder. Just makes it worse. I suspect he is easily susceptible to influence and manipulation. Being in Hollyweird‘s echo chamber of disconnected reality isnt helping matters.

I dunno about that, but Alan Richson is a much bigger arsehole than Tom Cruise and that's saying a lot. 😬

After Richardson crapped all over cops I would vote for Cruise to play Reacher again too.
The biggest complaint about Cruise was that he was physically too small to "fit" the role.
I thought he did a pretty decent job in the role.

I liked Cruise reacher movies. never read the books so I never hung up on how reacher was supposed to be a giant.

In real life I never found the really big guys to be very good fighters. They typically seldom ever got into a fight as their size intimidated people. It was the average sized guys or even shorter ones that were generally the scrappers.
