It seems that after a mere 47,216 reps on the Mantis X, it is not recording all dry fire shots anymore. What happens is if I power it off and back on again it works for a bit and then fritzes out in the middle of a drill. I have tried the built in troubleshooter and it mentions that it is not receiving data from the sensor even though it is connected to the bluetooth. If I turn it off a different prompt pops up about the disconnected status. Anyway, I e-mailed the company so we will see what they say.

These reps are mostly dry fire, but do include some airsoft, and real range live fire. These do not include match shooting for obvious reasons.

I started with this three years ago and it has been my shot coach as I have worked to continuously improve my skill level for matches.

For a few thoughts, for $250 during the pandemic this thing was a bargain when ammo was unaffordable. It trained me to pull the trigger straight to the rear (nearly) every time, including from compromised stances and positions. At 1/2 a penny per "shot", this thing saved crazy amounts of ammo cost and I have no idea if one can even hire a personal shot coach and even if so definitely not at this price.

That said, if it is dead, I am not sure I will buy another one. Maybe I have moved past the skill level where it is most important. Also now that I have a red dot on one pistol, that give much much of the same trigger pull information via shot calling.

Anyone else use this thing at these volumes? How long did it last you?

Unless they give you a smoking deal on a replacement or fix it under warranty. I would say time to move on. $250 is more then halfway to a G44 for context, and if you want your g44 to be reliable, mini mag seems to be the ticket.

Move on. Unless they want you as a sponsor in your future video saga "road to Master".

I recently had an issue with my Mantis X. I had purchased it in 2022 and used it sparingly. I put it back in its case and it sat for over a year. When I pulled it back out, it wouldn’t charge or power on.

I called customer support and within 24hrs, they had shipped a new unit along with a return label so I could send the defective unit back to them. Excellent customer service in every way!

Got an e-mail back from support. I performed the requested diagnostic steps and submitted back to them a diagnostics file with a note. We shall see what happens next. Apparently the sensor is registering that the gun is not being held horizontal when it most certainly is. This is even after reset and letting it calibrate on a flat surface.

Why sparingly? I certainly found the edge cases of its use. It is not good at judging fast multiple target engagements like we do in outdoor GSSF. But there are a bunch of things it is good at. I completed all the course in the first couple months. Started working on the one they added recently and am up to needing to juice my mag changes to move on - which is not a game mechanic in our sport so I didn't have USPSA M level mag changes yet under my belt.

It wasn’t any fault of the product itself. I just got busy with other things. I also found a private range not long after and was able to shoot more live rounds.

Hey, did you get an answer from support? I think I have the same problem – shots are not registered and Mantis says I'm not holding the gun horizontally (but I'm placing it on a desk and even checked with a spirit level ;p).
