Can Stoeger STR-9 style handguns use Glock style mags?

Is it a clock clone, or near Glock clone?
What internals inside are actually Glock clones-- and can take Glock parts?

Steel mags, Glock mags don't fit. I've not tried swapping parts, but they all look the same to me in the slide. The frame, a few small dimensional differences.

I'd call it a near Glock clone.

Some connectors work. Spring cups work. Striker springs work. Certain triggers work, some need slight modification on trigger bar clearance area.

Sights, mags and barrel are not compatible.

Midwest finally started stocking threaded barrels for the full size pistol only, not the C, not the F, just the plain STR9. Reasonably priced at 80 bucks.

The magazines are not cheap but they are very well made. 35 ea is about as cheap as I've ever seen. The full size mag will fit in the C pistol. It will probably fit in the SC pistol also.

HINT, if you want to use a Clipdraw, on the full size or C, obtain the model made for the full size or compact Smith M&P, and carefully file about .017 from the back of the backplate. Carried one for years this way. Fitted it very snug so it required some gentle tapping with a plastic face hammer to seat it.

I bought a Stoeger STR-F last summer. Nice shooter, very similar to a Glock, but only comes with 1 mag. And mags to fit this are hard to find and run $40 each if you find them. I finally found a place I could order a spare, so im set for a while.

A good spare pistol for knock around, but I won’t be buying anymore due to the mag issue.

I don't understand guns that come with just one mag.

I think they are directed at certain clientele that buy a gun, and don't train with it. That's my impression.

YES you can buy the Stoeger cheap, but then add the cost of $70 for 2 additional (proprietary) mags that aren't easy to find... NYET

I got 2 at a really good price, with 2 magazines each. Bought 4 mags and just a touch over the price of one Glock 9mm. My boys prefer them to Glocks, M&Ps and CZs.

C mags and SC mags are much harder to find than full size ones. AFAIK, they are backwards compatible. So, carry big ones as spares. Easier to manipulate under stress anyway. Cause once bullets fly at you and your motor skills diminish tiny mags are prone to fumbling.

If the Stoeger used Glock style mags, I would have purchased a few. But unfortunately, they do not.
If they did the grip would be fatter and less comfortable.

Reason why any 10mm Glock will always feel like a brick. While the S&W 10 feels svelte and right in the hand.

I just bought a STR-9C yesterday so I am anxious to shoot it. If it isn't worth a darn then no big loss. 199.00 then a 50.00 rebate I am taking a chance to see what it does. It only came with one mag though.
Any lightly used STRs you wanna dump on me for 150 bucks, I'm ready! :D

The 15 round magazines fit and function in the "F" too. Their $30 at my local dealer in Knoxville, TN
