I’m pretty committed to Glock, but what are the thoughts on the 43x vs. the shadow systems CR920 War Poet. Yes I realize that the SS has a few of the upgraded parts that make it a pretty sweet shooter, but what about the difference in price between the two. Is the SS really worth the extra $$ ? It’s a neat pistol, but… Am I missing something? Yes I understand it has a higher capacity, but it is essentially a semi-gucci 43x. Thoughts ?

Well the 43x has a much longer grip which of course helps with full grip, but prints maybe a bit more.
Now the CR with a 13 rounder is still shorter than the 43x and holds the same capacity in a flush fit in a 43 size. Not sure the Poet offers any upgrades over anything you can do with a straight Combat or Elite model . The Combat is my EDC and shoot it better than I ever shot my 43x...YMMV !!!! I believe 13 is highest capacity for the CR and with aftermarket 15 is possible with the 43x. For the smaller more modded EDC CR for the win !!!!
With the 13 rounder I get a full grip and very concealable package.

My current carry gun is a P365X which is nice but a little too snappy. Can shoot it fine, but I found the G43 platform a little softer shooting. Especially in a high stress situation. From what I understand, the CR920 may have a slight edge on the 43/43X in shootability, capacity and overall refinement. Hearing from people with experience with both helps.

Just go Glock. It will work when you need it.

While not your exact comparison, I run both a G19.5 and a MR920 elite. Both wear the same RMR and TLR7a. With over 750rds through each, I still can’t decide between them. I figure it’ll take another 1k each before I can decide. If I had to choose right now, I’m taking whichever is closest to me. Not much help, however, I’ll be that guy that says buy both.

I guess it depends on what youre looking for there are tons of comparisons that could be made. Ones a stock gun without a lot of bells and whistles that will work very well for a CC type role.
The other is a slightly fancier model with as you said "extras" to it that will make it more pricey.. and do the same role at a higher price point.

What you need to ask is what do you want/need as they will both do the role equally as well.. one just with the bells and whistles the other with some addons(thus pricier) they will probably both work equally well.

Personally im just sticking with the Glock.. thats because i like simple things.. im a simple person. I dont typically pay for or need fancy and add-ons. Im sure the other one is nice... but for me for CC im going Glock. It will do the same job the pricier one does just not have the bells and whistles.. there are many ways to look at it

You need a car to go from home to work... your choices are a Subaru Legacy(or name and regular old car YOU like.. but a standard non fancy model that will get you from point A to B well) or a Fancy lexus,BMW,or what ever you like) bith do the same job.. both will do what you want them to do reliably its your choice though..

Or simply getting a car thats the base model vs the same car in a fully loaded model.... again up to you both do the same thing.. Personally i keep my stuff simple.. im a right in the middle type guy.

When I got my Subaru Forester I got the premium model..its a step above the base and 3 steps below the loaded version it had all the stuff I needed and none of the stuff I didnt need..or want to pay for.. there is also less stuff to go bad on it down the road lol.

Using the Car analogy, you could start with a basic AWD Subaru Forester (Glock 43X) and modify it to your liking with lift kit, larger than stock All Terrain Tires, wheels, Off Road Lighting, & skid plates.

Or you could pay more for the Subaru Forester Wilderness (SS CR920) and still not have everything you want.

That’s a fair assessment. Thanks for sharing.

Already have. but i keep my guns stock.. that way I dont have to come here and ask that.. I have a Glock 43X that I did this, that and the other thing to now it wont work.. Why?? lol.

Those are the fender(or any place i guess) badges LP sends you when you order their stuff ;) . I Got my Forester the year before they came out with the Wilderness edition(it hadnt even been announced yet just a possible rumor) So I made my own lol. Well tried to

Thoughts ?
My EDC gun is a WCV Gen 5 Glock 19. I have owned "a few" and shot "a few more" of the en vogue small 9s now. I am not really a small/micro gun fan.

I owned a CR920 for a short while. 200 rounds through it, 100% reliable. It shot good. My wife also liked it, in her words "this is the best shooting small 9 that I have tried". But, in the end - the CR920 still shot like a small 9 (which it is of course) so I sold it to a friend who is now EDCing it. He really likes it!

A while back, I had the chance to shoot a 43X, had not done so yet, I did shoot a friends 48 a bit though. I liked the longer grip on the 43X (as opposed to the 43), but it still shot like a small gun (which it kind of is... ).

If I had to pick a smaller/micro 9mm down the line, my first choice would probably be a CR920. My second choice would be a Glock 43X or a Walther PPS M2 (I owned several of them a few years back.)

OP, Good luck on your decision, really both are pretty good options, my opinion of course ;)

A few weeks ago, I stopped in a local GS to feel what a G45 was like in my hands. I instantly fell in love with it. I knew what I wanted the gun for, I just wanted to feel it first. For some reason, the salesman tried pushing me towards a Shadow Systems MR920 that was "such a good deal". He ultimately pushed me out of the store, and I ordered the G45 elsewhere. I went into that situation knowing I like Glocks, and I wanted another Glock. I have several, and I trust all of them with my life. If I wanted something fancier that hasn't been around nearly as long, maybe I would have taken the salesman a little more seriously & considered the MR920. I'm not knocking SS, as I haven't had any experience with them. You just need to decide what you're looking for; tried & true reliability, or something newer with the stated bells & whistles.

I would stick with Glock. The 43x is an amazing gun with no real problems. The CR920 on the other hand has been plagued with barrel problems (now fixed accordingly to SS) and also trigger problems. If you want reliable every time..Glock, if you want a pretty Glock that may have problems may not..then SS.

I have a G45 and I really like it a lot. Great pistol.
