I finally got an M11-A1. I've always wanted one. Came with rad grips and parts installed required for them, and 8 phosphate Sig mags... I always found the Sig P series guns to be kinda fugly, but I don't know, I'd never actually held one. I'm kind of totally enamored with it. It's not a bad looking gun at all. I think not having a rail makes it look a lot sleeker and nicer. Not to mention that I've heard virtually zero bad things about Sig P series guns over the years. Everyone who owns them seems to love them. SRT trigger is not bad at all, and the Siglites are nice sights. It's smaller than I thought it would be. That's.... what.... I am an adult, I am an adult....

Posted over at Sig Talk, too. :)

Thanks for reading.

I always like the M11s when I was running an Arms Room. Unfortunately, they had become a status symbol in the Army. Senior officers who were not authorized an M11 wanted one because all the cool kids had them. They were assigned by duty position, not based on what rank you were. A lot of Lieutenant Colonels just couldn't understand that fact.

That's awesome. I hadn't researched it much, but I couldn't find specifically, definitively where it was actually put into military service. I did read that USAF pilots and even some Navy and Marine Corps Pilots had them.

OP is making me think I need to update my circa-1993 P228 with the FDE treatment … It’s been a great gun.

Nice pistols. I have had a couple through the years and regret having sold them. Congrats

The Army assigned them to CID agents (Criminal Investigation Division), 'personnel with small hands,' (primarily female MPs) and a very few other people who had a need to conceal a pistol while performing their duties.

Very interesting information. I'm finding that it has excellent ergos, which I never expected from the P series. It's quite nice. :)

That is a tremendous pistol and should be the one the DOD chose as the Army's primary sidearm if it had to be a Sig.
Yeah, I'm enjoying dry firing it, so far. Range tomorrow, if all goes well.

M11-A1 stock trigger pack beats the 92FS into the floor (before D spring and trigger spring), and puts the stock P-01 to shame. The only way I enjoyed shooting a P-01 was when I did a spring kit for its trigger pack. Then, it had a nice trigger.

Never thought I'd like a hammer Sig, but this thing is excellent. I've been on a quest to find a DA/SA gun, and I think this may be it. It's not unnecessarily huge like the 92FS was, and the P-01 is great, but again, even it is still bulky. The fact that the M11 (and most of these hammer Sigs are) is decocker only is too cool.

Yes. CZ "duty" triggers are just horrendous. I'd not want to be responsible for shot placement on duty with those triggers.
