Wow, what a bunch of skirted fanboys over there. My first and only Kimber was a complete disaster. Sent back to be "looked" at and sent back a bit better but still not great. I'll never buy another and plan to sell this junk ASAP. As I stated over there, been shooting since 1961 and have owned pretty much every make over the years and the Kimber 1911 (Hero Custom) was the biggest disappointment out of any other weapon I've owned or still owned.

So the fanboys over there apparently are not big Glock fans either when I mentioned that both of my G30's just work when I need them. The comments ranged from "get a real man's 1911" to others all of which I didn't let slide in any way.

Owning 4 different manufacturer's 45ACP weapons I'm pretty sure I can have an opinion of what works and what doesn't. I'm sure many haven't had any issues with their Kimbers but whoa be it if you do on that site. I've deleted it from my list of ones I go to. I'm too old and too tired for that fanboy mentality.

Welcome.
Curious why you felt the need to come and air that here. Out of further curiosity, was that your only post content there? People get sensitive when you mess with their favorite brand.

My Kimbers have always worked fine but I don’t like them as well as some of my other 1911’s

I personally despise the g30 but I’m glad you like yours. In fact I don’t own any Glocks anymore at all. But I like the site and they let me stay even if I am not a fanboy.

Mainly a warning to others, and I think everyone should have a right to their opinion even if it doesn't sit well with a majority. It definitely isn't the same site as here. That's a shame as well since no one should berate someone for not liking or agreeing with others on "their brand". I never have and never will, but I will take what problems others may have in considering my next purchase.

Every forum has folks who are overly sensitive regarding Any criticism...here also. But when opinions are outlawed, it's time to leave

Seems to me that there is two types of Kimber owners. The ones that love them, and the ones that hate them, but I guess that goes for just about everything. Just from what I have heard (I don’t know how much truth there is to it) that they were very good guns, but quality has suffered over the years. That could also be said about a lot of things. I have no dog in the fight, because I have never owned one.

The Kimber owners I know tend to be mostly the show and tell crowd and they shoot less in two years than a gun nut shoots in one weekend and even after twenty years their guns still look brand new. They'll tell you Kimber is "the best" and they're a pretty sensitive bunch.
I would have shot mine more if it would have functioned like I expected. :)

Or Glock problems here , or any named product forum site .
People here seem pretty helpful when the Glock problem really is a Glock problem but most of the "Glock problems" people ask about here seem to be on an ex Glock and the owner eventually says something like "I got my Glock and threw out all the factory parts except the frame and rebuilt it to my specifications and for some reason it doesn't work."

Search brass to the face , every Glock problem here is limp wrist . I have a G3 23 and I can’t get brass to my face or a jam intensional limp wristing it .

I've never been to the Kimber Talk for much of anything but I have known several guys who like their Kimbers. Most of them carry the same proudboy bias towards the brand. I personally only know one guy who is like myself being indifferent just so that it works. My first handgun I bought for EDC was the Kimber Solo when it had first come out. I loved that thing and still do. Surprisingly it's actually one of the most accurate pistols I have even shooting it at distance, it has a very smooth soft trigger press, and runs flawlessly with whatever I feed it. As time went on I seen a lot of negative reviews on my favorite pistol and I couldn't believe it until I held like three other ones. They were all crap. The slides and triggers all felt like crude. One was brand new. The other two were used and the owners hated how unreliably they fed. I'm not sure if that's why Kimber eventually discontinued that model but it wouldn't surprise me if it was. I was fortunate in finding a unicorn with the one I got but I do not recommend them to anyone else. My second or third pistol I ever bought was a Kimber Custom II 1911 5" base model. I was young still but when I became aware of the love/hate that Kimber 1911's get I just had to know what I had so I took mine out into the desert with a 30 cal ammo can filled to the brim with 45 Auto and I ran it hard. I tried limp wristing it, shooting it upside down grip, covered in sand, dunked in water, dunked in water and then in sand, you name it and that pistol never malfunctioned once. It brought me a peace of mind for the several years I owned it. However that doesn't equate to the many issues I know a lot of people have had with Kimbers so it's not a brand I typically recommend to people just because you don't know what you're getting until you find out you've got a lemon. I did end up selling my Kimber 1911 when I needed earnest money for buying my house. By then I already had several other pistols including a Glock 21 which for me has more to offer. I still have my Solo though and I'm unlikely to selling it. I don't see myself buying another Kimber. If I ever do get another 1911 I've always drooled over Sig's Emperor Scorpion—but it's unlikely.

I do recall BTF issues being a thing back in the 2011-12ish time period on here. My 2011-vintage Gen3 19 would do it fairly often until I switched out the OEM extractor with another OEM extractor, which completely solved the issue (don’t recall spec part numbers).
