Not really in this context. Kind of apples and oranges.

Again, zero experience. You never even shot one.
Maybe one of these days it’ll change and I’ll come around- as of now I wish I’d snagged one of the Talo .38 Super LW Commanders from a few years ago. I do have a Glenn Custom .38 Super 1911 that’s the smoothest 1911 I’ve ever shot.

But even so, for the moment I’m not drawn to $2k+ 1911s.

best not to shoot one, John :)
High end guns aren't for everyone and its best that some of you guys keep telling yourselves that.

If your think your Glocks and service grade Sigs, Berettas, etc do the job just as well, that's great. More power to you and you saved yourself a lot of money.
exactly. I already have the issue of driving the work car, then have to get into my 4cylinder Frontier on my days off. And I’m not even a car guy. If I shot one of those guns, then had to put my 19 into my holster afterwards, I’d end up dropping some cash and royally pissing off my CFO.

I hope you have the opportunity to put a Staccato through its paces,

I'm not even saying they're the end all be all by any means. They're basically the ground floor of a quality 2011.

Certainly understandable. I don't blame you.

I'm just saying the 2011 and 1911, while they have a lot in common to include the entire fire control group, generally occupy two completely different markets.

They feel quite a bit different in hand and on the range.
Outside of capacity, what is the real difference? Is the FC group that different?

To me it just seems like a heavier, bulkier, pricier (albeit nicer) 1911...not for me, but more power to others. Maybe I’ll change my tune if I have the opp to get behind one.

They are good guns.

I like mine a lot, HOWEVER... I have two issues.

1 - there's no use for it in competition. Limited Optics is coming, but I shoot Carry Optics and plan to stay there.

2 - their marketing and fanbase are starting to become pretty irritating, and I don't really want to be onboard. Kind of like Corvette owners' reputations.

Good guns yes, not Jesus guns like many of their owners make them out to be. I've been fortunate enough to try some really nice truly custom 2011s(SVI, Atlas, to name a couple) and in comparison the Staccato P, especially the trigger, pales in comparison. And yeah, they are cheaper than a full custom 2011, so it's fair that they aren't "super amazing."

I'm selling mine to fund a single stack or open gun. Anymore I'm only interested in guns I can shoot in competition. I have the self defense angle covered with multiple Glocks in the safe.

I will say that for 99% of shooters, Staccato makes an amazing pistol. If you have the money, you certainly won't regret the purchase.

Having the money and coming from what? I appreciate your reply but from a defensive firearm aspect, coming from a high end 1911? From four striker fired, run of the mill pistols?

That’s where I’m coming from too. I think of handguns primarily as defensive guns, though I’ll admit I enjoy shooting them at the range.
I don’t consider them that at all. I have exactly four handguns I use for defense, which are two carry guns, a vehicle gun, and a home defense gun. All the others are either collectibles, recreational shooters, or used for some local competition.

I have three handguns I consider SD guns, the rest are largely collectibles or occasional rec shooters. When it comes to collectible handguns, I don’t shoot mine at all as they’re mostly rarer Walther P38s.

I own quite a few custom 2011’s and agree.

Like I said Staccato is where a quality 2011 starts. They go way up from there.
