I took a MaxxTop fanny pack, put a paracord lanyard on the main zipper to make it easier to find the main zipper. I replaced the waist strap and fastener with the strap/fastener from a Phylster Enigma Express. My G43X is sheathed in a Concealment Express kydex holster without the belt clip. The pack had a built in keychain clip which connects to a
Key chain clip attached to the holster tension screw.

Anyone else use a fanny pack to carry concealed?

No. But I did tell my wife to shoot me if I ever wore a fanny pack. I can see the point if you are a runner though. Otherwise, having to unzip the pack kind of flies in the face of rapid deployment ability.

Just my two cents worth…
Somewhere in my box of unloved holsters there is a fanny pack with a zipper for the outer pouch and Velcro to get quick access to a pistol in the inner pouch.

Wait for it……many replies are coming to question your choice of concealed carry.
Anyway in my holster tub someplace is a black nylon De Santis waist pack. (If it’s on your Fanny how do you draw from it)?
On cross country long drives it works well with a Gen-3 G-22.
They have their purpose and “if” I ever wore one in public, I wouldn’t care what anybody else thinks.

I see many people now using “fanny” packs as over the shoulder packs. Probably people that actually care what some simp thinks about the fashion of others. In the summer I use a “hip pack” (fanny pack) to carry a J frame. I have yet to have anyone question my use of it. It’s probably because I am also wearing cargo shorts and fashion conscious morons appall cargo shorts so that in itself is giving them palpitations.

As for the type of pack I wear, it’s generic and as small as I can get away with.
This is the one I have. It screams “older guy who has no fashion sense.”

I get a kick out of guys that buy a ”Tacticool” pack then are surprised that people know they’re carrying a gun. But then most “Tacticool” guys or tactical minded people won’t use a Fanny pack because it’s not quick access enough. Yet these same guys would probably advise a lady to get a handbag dedicated to CCW. I never quite understood that.

Anyway, it sounds like you have a good plan for your choice in carrying. Now, practice, practice, practice on accessing and drawing your handgun. At some point you may find a Fanny Pack isn’t for you. At this point you can start your very own “holster box” where all the failed carry options end up. I recommend the handy boxes from Rubbermaid. 😉

This is how I see them being used by the younger crowd, but I doubt most of them have a firearm inside. Since they are just slung over the shoulder, can you imagine how many hands it would take to actually draw a weapon from it?

I do have one, a Galco brand that I used a little many years ago with a G17 when they were more mainstream. Today I use a Dynamis Alliance LVL Comp slingbag when I carry off body or want to take a larger gun with me.

I have an Uncle Mike's I'll occasionally use on the bicycle. Otherwise, a fanny pack would be very out of character for me. Not many guys wear them where I live. They stand out.

I bought mine back before Illinois had CC. Used it for "Illinois Carry". That is, an empty gun and a loaded mag - in separate pockets. Didn't do it much. Usually when traveling in-state.

I have for over 15 years and still do, everyday at the gym and in the summer in the backyard.
I have always worn it as a shoulder pack, even before it was cool (actually I made it cool 😁).
I have a Blackhawk! (for over 10 years now) and it fits life little necessities: wallet, keys, G19 and spare mag...

Had a fanny pack back in the very early '90s. Wore it one summer at the end of the "fanny pack craze". EVERYONE who owned a gun immediately saw the little nylon loop for quick opening.

But it just wasn't my style.

It transitioned into my pipe and pipe tobacco holder for camping for a couple years. One time while eating at a diner in Maine on the way to Baxter State Park a local police officer at another table was eyeing me and my pack... he never said anything to me, and afterwards I realized I could have just told him there was no gun in it. He probably would have enjoyed his breakfast more. I did notice that the officer was carrying a beautiful shiny 357 mag revolver - this was before the great switch to Glocks.

I use to have a kinda square fanny pack, carried all my stuff in it when I went to work(at a Hospital). I even had a Walther PPKS with an extra mag in the back pocket. It was one of those velcro closures pockets. It worked so very good, I used it for years. The Doctors could carry on their belt but it was against the hospital policy for any other staff to have a CCW. I was never without it! I knew of 3 Nurses that packed a CCW and I laughed about it. The leftist who ran the hospital would have craped themselves if they knew.
