A buddy and I wandered into the local sporting goods store. Gun counter guy know us well and we sat and BSed for a bit. I love my Glock 43 as my EDC. Really, I’ve found it to be damn near perfect for me. However, I am transitioning to red dots for competition and on my other handguns. It only stands to reason that my EDC follows suit. I’ve looked at having my 43 milled, I’ve looked at buying replacement slides (Brownells or 43X MOS), and I’ve also considered swapping platforms.
As we talked, I was looking at the P365XL with Romeo Zero. It had a decent trigger, one of the better I have felt on a 365. I liked how it handled and felt, a little fuller than my 43, but not too much bigger or heavier. Plus it has the red dot.
As I was looking at it and liking what I was seeing, the gun counter guy got on the computer, told me they have been sitting on that too long and dropped the price to $650. I couldn’t take it home, but he said that price is good for layaway too. So I threw a $100 on it and into the back of the store it went with my name on it.
I figure the best way forward from here is to get that 365 home, get some range time with it, and really decide if it’s gonna be time to replace the 43 or upgrade the 43.
I figure $650 isn’t the deal if a century, but still good enough to try out the platform and not lose my ass if it doesn’t work out. Knowing my luck, Glock will announce at SHOT the 43MOS. I think that’s possible, but not at all probable. Who knows, maybe I’ll much more enjoy the 365 over my 43. That does seem probable.

With respect, this might be your problem. I don’t necessarily believe it stands to reason at all. Just because you’re running a red dot on a comp gun doesn’t mean you need to put one on your 43 for carry. If like like it as much as you say, and it has served well, it’s still every bit as useful as it was. You don’t need to change anything, (thought that’s not to say you might not want to.)

Oh, nooooooooo!!!!😱😱😱 :ROFLMAO:

I have a red dot on my duty gun. I like red dots. A lot.

I also have a Glock 43, a 365, and a 365XL. My duty gun is a 19 with Holosun 507c on it.

I finally broke down and got the 365 after avoiding it. I soon after got the XL with a Wilson grip module. The XL has a Holosun 507k.

I had thought of milling my 43 or the 365 standard gun. But my thinking is my small guns are my small guns. I want them as small as I can have them and still shoot them. I have bigger guns to be able to carry when I can that I can put dots on.

So I ended up with a 365 standard with a Wilson grip and my 43 that are my small guns. My 19’s and XL for my bigger guns with dots.

With all that being said, my vote is the XL, ditch the Romeo and get a Holosun or small Trijicon and keep the 43 for when you need something small small.

This. My duty and primary off duty carry guns all have optics.

I put an optic on my 43x MOS and found that the optic just wasn’t what I needed for that gun.

The only time I’m carrying a 43x is as a backup or deeper concealment gun (I normally carry a 19MOS with an optic off duty), and I need that 43x small and slick.

19MOS for what? I used to CC one and hated it. That’s why I ended up at the 43.
Think the 365 or X/XL would be right up your alley. If I only had one, I would go X and get the smaller grip frame for $35

First two is 43 and 365 side by side. Second two 43 and 365x side by side.

Sounds like your committed to the Sig, I have a 365xl, it's a nice gun and comes with great night sights, I haven't had any issues. I'm not a fan of the modularity aspect of it because mine jiggles around in the frame.

If your looking at other possible candidates, I recently purchased a Mossberg MC2C and they also had a MC2SC which is the exact same size as the Glock 43 but holds 11 rounds flush fit I believe. It comes from the factory optics ready.

TFB did a review on it where they beat the crap out of it and it still performed great.

I cant get used to red dots on a pistol and the old dog has stopped trying. I can however vouch for the P365. Its a remarkable gun and I believe a far better carry gun then the G43. But I also have the G43 and its a good working gun and certainly a legit carry gun.
The P365 is just a generation ahead. Having 12+1, 10+1, or even 15+1, of 9mm with a reload or two is comforting. I fond the 365 fast and lines up well. I stopped carrying any other compact or micro 9 in my inventory.

Sounds like a rationalization to buy a new gun. No red dot for me on my S&W Shield EDC gun.

My eyes are getting bad enough for red dots to make sense (although I am not a fan).

I may just take the G43 I carry now and put on a Leupold DeltaPoint Micro.Smaller, will work with more normal holsters, including ankle carry, and works even if the battery dies. No milling or new gun required.
