I’m honestly not sure how long this company is going to be in business, so I figured to pick one of these up to go with my Field Pistol. The PSD is FK BRNO’s polymer multi-caliber semi auto that shoots the proprietary 7.5 FK round as well as your choice of 10mm/40S&W or 9mm. It’s a beast of a handgun and weighs in at a whopping 45.4oz empty, which is by far the heaviest polymer framed pistol I’ve ever owned. It’s a good 6 to 8oz heavier than even the HK Mark 23.
Everything FK BRNO builds is top notch quality. While at $1700 this costs less than a quarter of their $7500 Field Pistol, I think build quality is still exceptional. The gun is fit extremely well and the fit and finish/attention to detail is second to none in the polymer pistol world. Quite frankly, it’s one of the nicest polymer handguns I’ve ever seen. My Salient Strike One and HK USP Elite might be as nice, but no polymer is better from a quality perspective.
Just like the Field Pistol, the PSD is a SAO hammer fired handgun. Also, just like the Field Pistol, the trigger is nothing exceptional. However, they aren’t designed to be target pistols. They are designed for use in the field. While I highly doubt very many Field Pistol owners actually take their $7500 handgun into the woods, this one is much more practical for that application. The PSD shares the very small front sight with its much more expensive sibling, which leads me to believe it was designed to rival the Field Pistol’s accuracy. I haven’t fired it yet, but I’ve heard a lot of good information on the gun’s downrange performance. The PSD also features two knobs at the rear of the slide to make it rack more easily. I didn’t care much for them on the HK VP9, but I like them on this.
I chose the 9mm model, which comes with extra magazines, a 9mm barrel and a lighter recoil spring. I can only imagine a gun designed to fire 7.5FK will be extremely pleasant to shoot in 9mm. The gun will be snappy in 7.5FK. Even the 3lb+ Field Pistol is snappy. I’ve spoken about the FK round here before, but I’ll mention it again. I’d feel confident carrying this pistol for protection anywhere in North American. The round is utterly devastating on target and packs well over 900 ft/lbs of energy. In fact, I’d sooner carry this than a 44 Magnum revolver in Grizzly country. Its much easier to control, effortlessly accurate, and holds 15+1 rounds. I guess call me crazy, but the 7.5 cartridge is amazing.
At any rate, who here picked up an FK BRNO PSD? What do you think?
As always, please enjoy the pics and share your thoughts.
Thanks!

Here it is with my Field Pistol. The PSD has a shorter barrel at 5.25", while the Field Pistol is 6". The PSD's slide is a good deal wider, though you can't tell inn the picture.
