I have a N8Tactical Professional IWB "tuckable" holster. Tuckable means you can tuck your shirt into the waist of your pants and around the holster so the only thing showing is the holster clip. I usually wear an untucked shirt but tonight I had dinner with friends at a nicer restaurant and my wife wanted me to wear a dress shirt tucked into my pants.

The tuckable holster worked great and I easily tucked the shirt into my pants and around the holster. All evening I was thinking if I have to draw my gun quickly I would be dead before I could get to the gun. The shirt tail was fairly long and I would have had to pull and pull the shirt out from around the gun before I could grip the gun.

I know many will say they never wear a tucked in shirt but sometimes I have to. Does anyone have comments or suggestions when tucking a shirt around a tuckable holster and needing to access the gun quickly?

Thanks, Bill

At least you have your gun of choice with you.

I've done it occasionally, but because I have to disarm regularly (going into prohibited sites), if the choice is between tucked carry and pocket carry, I almost always go with the pocket and avoid redressing in my car multiple times a day.

I've carried in tuckable IWB holsters of various types for years. Like others have said, there isn't really a way to do a quickdraw from one with your shirt actually tucked in over it. It's an option for carrying in situations where you really, really don't want to get "made," but it's also one of the "deepest" forms of concealed carry and you need to factor that into your tactics.

Since you know that you're not going to be able to draw quickly in the face of a threat, you need to orient your mind to prioritize finding cover before you attempt to draw. In reality, any time you're suddenly confronted with gun violence, you're already behind the eight ball and should prioritize moving and finding cover before engaging even if you're carrying in a speed holster.

Practice, practice, practice. In the end you just have to accept that you're trading speed for concealability and plan accordingly.

I wear cargo shorts and untucked shirt everywhere, FL.
We had to go to a honors banquet for our son, wife wanted me to "dress up" a bit.
I have 1 pair of cargo pants, so that was an easy choice.
Wife wanted me to wear "nicer" than the print "fishing" shirts I usually wear, so I wore the 1 "nice" plaid button-up shirt I have but that shirt was contently untucked as usual and I carried the same Glock 17 I carry everywhere else.
Married 32 years, so I know how to compromise. 😁 😇

My wife doesn’t tell me how to dress, that’s why. Guess no jacket worn?

I’m sure you have a 511 polo for nice occasions somewhere
;)

I hear your pain. As others have mentioned, a tuckable holster is a compromise and ment for more deep concealment, i.e. slower pistol draw.
I dislike and have difficulty getting shirt tucked in/around/behind firearm so firearm grip is covered., doesn';t print or shirt pulls out on that side and all that stuff. In addition, how do you conceal the holster clip so it doesn't attract attention to it and thus, to the buldge of the holster/gun. Haven't needed to use the tuckable in a long time. A dress type vest or wearing a sports coat is a better solution for me.

UltiClips is the answer to that question.

Most of the other stuff you just have to deal with.

A tucked pistol is a compromise but there is some good information out there about techniques for ripping the cover garment out and getting a hold on the pistol. Check out this video by the Shooted Shootist at
. A lot of folks are talking about the Enigma-based setups for wearing the pistol completely under clothing.

For a tuckable holster like your N8Tactical Professional IWB, you might experiment with wearing a second belt under your clothing. That way the clips will be completely concealed behind your clothing. Be sure to practice wearing it around and drawing before going out.

Pocket carry seems tough to me. Depending on the pocket depth you have the back of the grip riding right at pocket height and thus just as visible as a clipped knife unless you are also wearing a jacket. Additionally it now takes up the space needed for one's phone. I really think cloting needs dedicated phone pockets in 2022.

No. :(

I've got a couple of Wal-Mart polo shirts I brought here from KY but its too hot here for cotton.
Thin "fishing" shirts are the best.

My wife grew up in country clubs…I’m guessing most can tell by my posts that I probably did NOT…. If she starts to comment on my apparel she gets a glare…I mean it was good enough for her to pursue me back in the day, then….just sayin

These two statements are mutually exclusive.

Wear a blazer.

Disclaimer: I don't own a tuckable holster and I have no use for them. So you can take that into account with what 'm about to say.

I've noticed enough clips from a tuckable holster on people's belts that I don't consider them to be "Concealed Carry".

If I wore a tuckable holster to a nice restaurant (or anywhere else) I would assume someone noticed.

Having said all that,

If you choose a tuckable holster practice is the key to using it effectively.

Possibly consider getting the hem of your shirts altered?

That statement is weird to me.

I make a point of wearing 100% cotton because it feels cooler to me.

BUT I also live in a high plains desert where it rains once or twice a year and we consider 30% humidity "Muggy". Maybe that makes a difference.

I don't recall what I wore when I lived in Florida but I think it was all cotton then too.
