At that price, I'd be worried about the rifle being stolen, seriously.

That's a too good to be true kind of price.

Long ago, I had an HK 93 in 5.56 with the telescoping stock. It was heavy but very well made. I sold it for what I thought was a fortune, but it was a pittance compared to 2022 prices!

A friend in Tulsa, had a full auto HK91 and I had a chance to fire it. He had it buffered down, so the firing rate was very controllable. It was a thrill to shoot!

Other that the obscene cost, the only gripe I have over the 91 and 93 rifles is the fluted chamber. Gas helps blast the fired empty out of the action and it marks the brass pretty significantly.

Incidentally, that scope base was always out of my reach. That base was crazy expensive but it can be removed and replaced while retaining zero. That part alone is worth some major bucks!

Look around for an HK sight adjustment tool for the iron sights. I had one and they're also pricy.

Should be an HK import as it’s an “IB” coded gun, but could be a very late SACO. OP can you confirm?

Don’t think it’s a Saco gun , doesn’t say it anywhere. To be honest, kinda fell into this rifle about 6 months ago. Had to wait for a friend of mine to bring it back from out of state from one of his hunting buddies. I just figured it was a decent rifle with a scope and a bunch of ammo. I didn’t realize it was a older sought after firearm. Heck, I don’t know if I’m even going to keep it yet. Another buddy wants to trade me a nice set up dotted AR15 for it. Like I said, I’m not very informed on rifles, but the consensus seems to be that it’s a good buy.

Tell your Buddy that the trade value is between 5-6 K if he has a KAC SR15 Mod 2 E3 and $2500 you may consider it . That rifle will only appreciate in value. But, you do need a correct date coded Wide forearm.

The HK-91 is a great battle rifle, usually quite accurate (it's not a sniper rifle but for it's intended purpose, it's a fine shooter) and almost perfect as big heavy .308's go. Mine would function with any old crappy ammo you could find to stuff into it and it just worked every time. I was able to find some 25 round mags, too.
It is, however, a reloaders nightmare. If you can even find the brass (mine could easily chuck the brass 50'!), it simply and bluntly put, beats hell out of the brass! I've got some old reloads where the case just gave up and split along the flute lines! From just sitting around in a box!
It's also a very dirty shooting rifle and seems to collect more crud with each shot. It will keep shooting, even when incredibly filthy, but I think the best way to clean one that's been shot a bunch is with a bucket of kerosene and a stiff brush!
You did well, getting the 91. It's a great battle rifle that will serve you well for a long, long time to come!
Cheers,
