Hello, I recently purchased a Glock 19 gen 5. I have owned my firearm for a little over a month. I just fired it for the first time last night. There are visible marks inside my slide and on my barrel. My barrel and slide were both oiled properly. I don't know what to do about this, I am very concerned. I don't want to continue to fire it and have the situation go from bad to worse. Does anyone have any thoughts about what I should do about this or what caused this to happen? I am rather new to gun ownership, so I have no idea if this is normal or not.

There is a FAQ stickied at the top of the forum that covers most all this (and more).

But, normal for Gen 5. I'll add the Gen 5 finish is on par with discount brand spray paint. It does not hold up over time. The marks on this slide was caused by the top of my polymer OWB holster.

Metal moving on metal will leave marks on the finish. This is of zero consequence.

Go shoot it a whole bunch more. You'll only build more confidence in it.

At least you bothered to break it down and take a look, many don't.

Those marks will remind you where to put lubricant when you clean it. After a good use of course bless you are a fire one mag, detail strip sort of owner.

DId you put night sights on it? Im just curious about the light colored front sight screw. My factory front sight had a black screw in my 23 Gen 5

Yeah... it's not worn enough. Go back to the range until your barrel shows a "smile!"

Yes I had a gunsmith put Trijicon night sights on it.

If that freaks you out then take a look at this SIG P226 MK25 with phosphate coated barrel. It’s completely normal with use. And don’t be sorry. Ask questions to learn.

I’ve asked similar questions. I’ve owned a hand gun for over 5 years and I’m still constantly learning new things. Glad you’re paying attention.
