I have an odd-ball FAL. It’s a 50.00 that is marked EJK Devco (Ed Klein) AND Gun South Inc. I guess GSI bought out Devco inventory at some point?
Very interesting.

Turns out that a guy that I got to talking to at the US company who makes AUGs worked at Gun South for many years. I could ask him if u like.

That would be awesome. It’s truly an anomaly as a friend whose collected data on those imports for 30 years hasn’t seen another like it. Devco imported a handful of Type 2 50.00s as well as some Type 3 50.00s, .41s and .61s, but never encountered a Devco/GSI dual marked gun.

Typical late GSI features, Type 3, non sear cut, short flashider.

Weighing in late, but yes I had a mint LIW Vector LM5 5.56x45, the semi-auto only version of the South African R5.
When I owned her, she'd had about a magazine through her in all the years before my time (1986-2010 approx). I have a feeling she would've been a rare sight on the U.S market.

Also had a FN FAL from original Rhodesian stock (Complete with baby pooh cammo.) i.e. South African imported FAL's that were 'sanitised' in some instances and not in others. Both have subsequently been sold

I did sell some over forty years ago and repped for Steyr and sold Howco stuff.and had 100's of all models and Blake Stevens called me a fellow 'FAL NUT"
and worked at D.S.A. at the start-up of that company. And was a Magnum Research rep. first imported 50 of the ARM 5.56. I had 25 of the first and displayed them at O.G.C.A. in Ohio upon arrival in the u.s.a.the AR model arrived later. And had Serial #13 which was the first 308 ARM in country and was the brochure gun.

so for over 40 plus years went with it.
Now retired and just wonder who bought all those FALS ha ha
Buy the ARM GALIL if Magnum Research, Action Arms and Springfield came later and Armscor imports and other makers and builders. I am glad the guy posted a pic of his build. There are still a few of us left who remember the early days.my old AD in Shotgun news from 1980,Also a 1975 ad from the first batch in the early 70s from Mike at L.E.S. Very interesting. I've seen all 3 models and some other interesting variants here. A friend of mine collects FN FAL's specifically and he has some really rare gems in his collection. Most of which were original FN made FAL's.

PROBABLY have run across him at one time first one for me was 1975.at least ownership, From there its History.ENJOY them all.
FAL have you had dealings with the guys in South Africa for parts etc? There are a select few down here who specialise in FAL parts, few and far between though.

WOW!! Even down here, that is pretty rare. Back in the days when you could post guns overseas! I didn't know about them posting x39 ammo or any ammo at all! Beautiful collection, hang on to it!

P.S A lot of our guys fought there and vice versa during the Border War and the Rhodesian conflict. The only problem was Rhodesia fell in 1980 effectively; leaving our northern border exposed and at significant risk.

I know you guys went thru hell.I was out of the Marines by 1974 {6 years} was ready to do contract work at that time.had much fun running guns. And kept it up for 38 years,Most all the major players are long gone...on the ammo and stuff that was brought in personally on aircraft. {who knows who} i just paid and never asked. some of those mags still had sand in them and some gear picked fresh. and it sold super fast nobody had it.put that stuff ona gun show table in 76/77. and they want WOW! i lived that chit and loved it. sadly again many never had the passion i did for it.welcome aboard here you will find some good people..

Late response, but a big thank you FAL.
You have lived in an era and place that few nowadays understand.

Old and bad quality pic, but that was my mint LIW LM5 5.56x45, complete with tritium insert night sights (technology all borrowed from the Israeli's).
