I can understand not seeing that during your pre-sale inspection it's kind of hidden. Sometimes no matter how well you think you looked it over before buying something odd comes up when you get it home. Sometimes I get odd looks because of my inspection from the employees but I don't care.

More than once I assumed I would be purchasing the display model and after a long inspection of that particular display model and the " I'll take it" from me the employees then goes to back of store and grabs another sample new in box and then proceeds to ring me up without me even looking at this one. Well that is not going to happen and I ask to inspect this one and that is when I get the "well they are the same as the one you been looking at" from the employee. This is usually the very young guys at the big stores who are not even old enough to buy a handgun themselves.

Anyway I'm not sure what I would do if I was in your shoes, part of me says it's a tool deal with it no biggie but the other part says it should be replaced especially if it's noticeable with the slide plate on it might bug me. You purchased it new and Glock should be aware.

I just took this pic of my early gen5 G17 and I’ve got a little rough edge as well. I’m not worried about it. It’s basically nothing.

That's good to know. Thanks for the reference picture. I appreciate the additional data point, rather than just assurance. Just wanted to see if my example was the only one to have the same kind mark. Noted and I won't worry about it. Thanks!

You posted that you contacted glock about it. See what they say. But like I’ve shown, it’s not uncommon. For me, I’m not worried about it.

Don't those dings look like post finish marks as in it happened after the finish was applied?

It is possible someone did not know how to remove the firing pin and they took a small flathead to that area thinking they could remove the slide plate.
I'd suggest the answer is "Yes" to both questions. That's exactly what I thought regarding the slide plate and screwdriver. But the OP assured us the G19 is factory fresh. Hard to imagine anyone at the Glock factory doing that.

they look to me like pre finish marks, because no one had handled it prior to me
I think the suggestions is "post nDLC" (i.e., post finish). It would appear some or all of the nDLC was scraped off.

Either way, I'm contemplating having an aftermarket black nitride finish applied as I'm not a huge fan of nDLC
This will be a debate in and of itself. My G19's have JagerWerks black nitride, but they were also RMR-cut. I can't imagine anyone would suggest the nDLC is so bad that you could justify refinishing a brand new G19 gen5 just for the sake of refinishing it.

These threads have got to be some form of joke troll thread started by the same person. They are always new 1-post accounts registered less than a day ago, and they always pertain to an almost insignificant little pin-head sized speck on the slide or around the dust cover, and before they even have even ran a mag through the Glock it shows up here in a thread and is already disintegrating after bringing it home.

If this actually bothers anyone this bad, just get rid of your guns or instead of looking at them under a telescope at the house, have NASA drop off their new GenX ISS equipment and examine the Glock at the point of sale.

This wasn't intended to be a joke or a troll. Like I mentioned in the OP, this isn't my first Glock. I was merely looking for data points, not snarky comments.

For an update, I'm not concerned about it as I once was. I realize this is just a tool, but I like to know its in full conditon, which I wasn't able to verify at the time, and accept wear as part of ownership. Again, this isn't really a massive concern.

You can't post a question on a GUN forum and expect everyone to be warmly polite and diplomatic, and expect praise, affirmation, and gold stars.

These are gun guys who think they know it all, and come here to post it to the universe.

Snide remarks, and "snarky" insults are part of the machismo-- you read between the lines for the "data points".
