Looking at one on a local BST site that is only about 15 minutes away. Has MS which is fine. Two 17-round mags. Asking $600 which 'sounds' a tad high but thought I'd toss it out to get opinions. I was chatting with a member of another gun forum just a couple of days ago and he's logged 250k rounds through a M&P 1.0 in 40S&W. He had to replace the barrel at 190k. Sounds like pretty good performance/durability.

Thoughts welcome on the pistol and price. Thanks.

Considering the track-record of my 3 yr old Shield 1.0, which was flawless, I would not hesitate to purchase an M&P...I too am a little disappointed the mags and accys are more expensive, but only Glock has reasonably priced mags and related gear...so, if you can afford it, I say go for it!...or try to find a nice 19-5 Glock

I bought one at buds a couple of years ago for $400 new (I should have bought 5 of them). My wife proceeded to take it from me to use as her glove box / nightstand gun.

It is an extremely reliable very accurate workhorse of a handgun. We have around 2000rds through it with 0 issues of any kind. I would highly recommend it.

I've sent him an email to see if he'll deal on the price. I'm also looking at picking up another 19X. A place about an hour away has them BL. If they still have them tomorrow I may take the trip.

Priced do vari with the m&p 5" SKU number but had to find a pistol that feels better in the hand and any trigger group upgrades are well known and well proven thru apex depending in your needs . 600 dollars is full retail price on a basic model with thumb safety while the PC model 11824 will run another 150 bucks !! And thats not a deal at our general store lgs .

I’ve got a 4.25” optics and 4” compact. Love them. Great guns. $600 isn’t outrageous. But not a great price. Right now M&P’s are sitting around $500-$550 and the tan ones seem to be a little more for some reason.

The smiths fit my hand a lot better than the Glock and I like the 2.0 grip a lot. I also like the curved trigger.

A friend of mine and I both bought the exact same gun from Sportsmen's Outdoor Superstore. Price was $425 and free shipping BUT...that was before the panic started so the price isn't relevant to your situation.

We both really like the gun, smooth and soft shooting even with +P.

Apex triggers get rave reviews and a local gunsmith has the full treatment in his M&P and is very pleased with it. I thought about just the trigger but I called S&W and got the answer I suspected. Any trigger work voids the warranty. Not doing that.

Hope you get a good deal, I'm pretty confident that you'll be pleased with the gun. Don

Edited to add: Perhaps you'd be interested in some chronograph data on mine.

Federal HST 124g +P 1256fps/434 ft lbs
Double Tap 124gr +P 1270fps/445 ft lbs

I have 1342 rds through it, no failures. I had one American Eagle rd that had a solid primer strike and failed to fire so I don't count that against the gun.

Why? Don't like it don't use it. Can you honestly say that there is never a situation where you'd like to have a functional safety? Don
The thumb safety was in the way. Many times when I first started shooting it, the safety would engage when I did NOT want the safety engaged. My first m&p did not come with a thumb safety. My shield does not have a thumb safety. And of course none of my Glocks have a thumb safety.

I have an FDE 5" 2.0 that i bought as soon as it was released.

I put an Apex Duty/Carry trigger (All they had available at first). I also did a safety delete and Warren Sevigny fiber optic front/black rear sight. I use it for IDPA, USPSA and MultiGun. Mine has about 30K rounds through it. It just gets smoother and slicker. The finish still looks new, as do the internals.

I have since acquired a 5" 2.0 CORE for IDPA & USPSA Carry Optics.

I also have a 4" 2.0 COMPACT, a .45 Shield and a 1.0 Shield that started it all.

All phenomenal guns...

I have one. Very nice pistol!!

All I have done is remove the thumb safety.
I love mine as well and it is the easiest pistol to shoot, other than my 1911. When I say easiest I mean I shoot tighter groups with it than my other pistols, without really bearing down. I do not like the safety either but had never thought about doing a trigger delete. Is it pretty simple to do?

Removing the safety was very easy. I found a video on YouTube that showed step by step.

Before you remove the safety, call S&W and get the parts dept. They will send you the frame plugs for FREE. They sent me both the FDE and Black frame plugs. The frame plug fills in the empty space where the safety was.

I also love mine & agree the ergo's are excellent for me, the accuracy is on point along with the great factory trigger in the 2.0's.
I also have the 1rst Gen M&P Pro 5in another fantastic product, so when the 2.0 came out in FDE it was a no brainer for me.
I was lucky to land mine non safety used <100rds fired for $400/4-17rd mags, so $600 is a bit high but there can always be negotiations.
