There is a thread that was started a week or so ago that was titled "What's your coffee cup look like?". And someone deliberately went out of his way to write a paragraph on why they have never drank coffee and that it was a crutch for the weak. Some of you shall now and forever be known as the "coffee cup guys" in my mind's eye.
I was thinking 'He-Man-Taurus-Hater-Club' :D

Their motto can be, 'We don't really have much if any experience with the G2 but we're going to tell you how stupid you are to like one anyway and clog up your stupid thread'. Little wordy maybe but it pretty much nails the point. ;)

You don't care about springs, wait what? No that does not happen with every gun I don't understand why you believe that maybe you've had some bad experiences.
Springs can break with any semi. They are consumable. Granted, some last longer than others, but in the end, they all have the potential to weaken or break.

Just got back from shooting it. Only 2 things, negative, come to mind as I sit here...the trigger safety doesn't release the trigger if bearing on at an angle. You have to pull it straight back. It also doesn't like the crease of your finger. My trigger callous is just above the crease, so I get a good, positive safety 'depress'. The other thing is the trigger pull is a little longer than I remember it in the store. It's not revolver long, but for a compact semi, it's a little long. Good thing is the pull is consistent so anything above absolute slow firing for groups isn't an issue and the faster you shoot it, the better the trigger works...it's just a tad long. My niece shot 100 yds of PMC 1150 fps and 50 rds WWB 1190 fps. She had no malfunctions. I shot 24 rds of Magtech +P HP's and no failures, but I had a couple times I went to squeeze the trigger and the trigger safety didn't release it...had to slightly readjust to do the previously mentioned 'straight back'. Being conscience to pull straight back, I had no issues. BTW, the gun honestly looks like it's well made, inside and out. Gonna have to tune that trigger safety so it will let the trigger pull no matter how you're pulling it. All is all, it was $$ well spent.

Someone mentioned the Taurus PT series being junk. I have PT1911 that I haven't shot in a while but put a few hundred rounds through it when I got it without a single problem. Also had a chance to buy a PT845 a while back but passed on it, wish I had bought it now.
There were a number of PT1911's that had the manual safeties come out while shooting. One of mine did it, even, but it didn't keep me from buying more to use as base guns. Also, some were know to go off POA/POI after a number of rounds fired. Best I can recollect, these PT1911's were built in '07 and '08, mostly. My sole remaining government 1911 is a PT...all black built in '11. It's basically stock except for installing an arched MSH so it points more like a full size Glock, off a draw. MOF, when speed drawing and firing a G34 and the 1911 without using a sight ref, the group at 7 yds is only about an inch higher with the Glock. I was stoked when I decided to try an arched MSH 'cause it has let me keep that 1911 and a lightweight Para commander which also has an arched MSH.

Wouldn't you know it, mine was made in August 2007, lol. That's sounds right for when I bought it. At least I got a good deal $375 NIB with an extra set of wood grips after $75 rebate. Haven't shot it in a while but never had a problem with it.

i bought a g2c and it was terrible out of the box. like absolute lemon. literally a jam after every shot for the first 2 magazines. and then it finally seemed to settle down. but it's still oddly unreliable. sometimes when i pull the trigger, it doesn't go off. sometimes just releasing the trigger and pulling again is enough. other times if i rack the slide that solves it. looking back i'd totally sell my g2c and g3c if i could, just to be done with them. but you get like 80ish bucks from a gun shop, and though i could get more in a private sale, i don't know how i feel trying to sell a gun to someone else that i don't like cuz to me it's been a lemon. and of course the trigger's absolute trash. i've never fired a gun whose trigger could actually be described as "crunchy."
i'll always choose my g19s, g30sf, arex, or s&w over the g2c or g3c anyday. at this point they're just truck guns cuz i'd rather leave them in a vehicle over my nice arex or beloved 19s. i carry a 19. bedside is the g30sf. wife's bedside is the other 19. my arex and s&w in the safe. the tauruses are just kinda there. i suppose i could gift them to someone as better than nothing at some point. a friend or relative who takes an interest and they could have something at least.

I was curious if there was any difference between the PT111 G2 and the newer G2 pistols. Seems like the newer one still has the long pull like I remembered. They changed that in the G3 series. Mine has about the same distance as Glock and doesn't break as far back as what I remember the G2 series breaking.

Yea, the one my niece just purchased is the newer G2c. That's all it says on the slide. Don't get me wrong, the trigger isn't terrible like the trigger on my Tracker .44 is. It's light to pull until the wall and then some resistance, but not terrible there, either. Applying some good grip pressure, I was able to pull through the wall, slowly, and stay on target. Getting used to the length of the pull took about 3 good breaths. Something I didn't mention was in 24 rds of +P ammo I shot + the bit of dry firing I did; I got no pain in my knuckle like you get with a Glock. First time I shot the G41 I thought I was going to have to call the ambulance after one full mag's worth of ammo.

I got my G2c from a guy I use to work with. He told me it had a few jams when he first got it but the gun shot fine once broken in. I stripped it down and I believe it was the driest and dirtiest gun that I have ever seen. I cleaned it and put a light coat of oil on everything and it ran 100%. Sometimes it ain't the gun's fault.

I understand it can be frustrating to have something that doesn't work to expectations. Why have you not just sent it back to Taurus and let them look at it? Every manufacturer has guns that, unfortunately, have to be sent back for some work. Just the way it is sometimes. While reading through your issues it reminded me of my buddies problems with a Sig 229. He sent it back and they had to change out some parts to get it running right (and it was an almost new pistol before he sent it back). Might just be something has to be changed out.

You mentioned a G3, are you having problems with it as well?

Mine is a piece of junk that jams 5 times out of 100.
Is this with a particular type of ammo or across the board? My G3 has had 2 hiccups out of 100 with WWB 147 JHP. I neglected to jot down if it was one or both mags. And I'm not sure it was the pistol as I've had hiccups with this ammo in other guns in the past. Could have been the G3 didn't like it or perhaps a difference in OAL on a couple of rounds. Talking with others I've seen some have also had an issue with that specific ammo. Everything else including +P shot like a champ though (115 and 124).

BTW, the gun honestly looks like it's well made, inside and out.
I don't recall the screen name but one of the members here that talks favorably about the G2 series is an armorer. He posted couple of times how he's stripped a couple/few different G2 pistols down that were years apart in make and noted that the quality continued to improve. IIRC they were both the PT111 G2 era pistols. So the quality of the current G2 series should be the same or better.

Yea the g2c has had more of the loading issues whereas the g3c is the one that's had the worse trigger issues. as in i pull the trigger and it hits a wall and just refuses to budge. i have seen online others having this same issue. And I guess I could try to send the guns in for work, but just seems like a lot of hassle and expense. money for shipping, and repairs. I went through and read the fine print for warranty work and i wouldn't be able to get it for free. I'd have to send the stuff and pay for the fixes. I just don't know if i want to sink any more money or effort into these things. and they aren't really guns i need. i'm pretty much set for defensive or carry pistols. i honestly got them because i'd heard such great things. heard they were the best selling pistols in the US for the last couple years and they were cheap and reliable and i wanted to check out the hype. have been disappointed. cheap yes. reliable no.

Generally speaking, you're much better off trying to fix or replace parts yourself with Taurus. Unless you just have THAT much free time.

I see the warranty has gone back to lifetime for the original owner. What is the expense? The guy here last year that broke his own gun said Taurus sent him a shipping label. Nothing out of pocket. I've never had to use a Taurus warranty so I don't know the particulars. Perhaps its worth a phone call?

I don't really need these guns and don't really care enough about them to try to deal with them. If I was willing to put in some effort into them, then I'd just do a private sale and get my money back, and maybe some extra considering covid prices. But I'm just not sure I want to sell questionable guns. Right now I'm just content disliking them and helping others occasionally avoid the mistake purchases I've made.
I'm genuinely disappointed they turned out the way they have. I loved the idea of a cheap, reliable, functional carry gun. But it just wasn't as advertised. Basically, if the guns not good enough without needing extra work or parts, then it's just not for me or what I was looking for. I'll stick w my gen3 19 or bodyguard .380 for carry. the taurus guns will collect dust until something changes.
