Not quite. the Commander has a 4 inch barrel, the G19 has a 4 inch barrel, and the G17 has a 4.6 inch barrel.

The Commander has a 4.25" barrel which is right in the middle of the 17 (4.49") and 19 (4.02"). What really matters is the slide length relative to the grip. The 17 is the same size as a Commander.

You make good points but regardless, I'd still like to see a G19 sized 45 more than I would a G17 sized 45. It would make a better carry gun, just as the G19 is a better carry gun than the G17. and the Commander is a better carry gun than a 5 inch Government model.

Smaller is better when it comes to carry, especially concealed carry.

No way. Every year after Gaston and I make up our minds about what new models we will release during the next year, I always keep that info "under my hat" until Gaston's new wife gives me the green light to discuss them on the internet forums.

Brutal? You mean like a real magnum pistol? I don't think it would be. Neither the G20 or the G29 really have any recoil worth mentioning and even with the hottest loads nothing even approaches the pain threshold.

The wider double-stack grip helps spread the recoil over a larger area of the hand, but the fact that the polymer frame flexes to absorb recoil probably makes a bigger difference.

As long as the gun had a full length grip, I wouldn't be a-scared to shoot it
