Walked into local Wallyworld... see 1187 youth 20ga. for $124... say "I'll take it" and plop down my DL & CCW... guy spends 10 minutes looking on computer for it in the system, then calls for "back-up" (manager).

Guess what? It's not in the system, they can't find it anywhere, the SN doesn't show up under any search, under any make/model. Manager calls for back-up which was useless.. Ends up they tell me to come back in the morning and deal with the "Sporting goods" manager at 7am.
Me... pissed but keep my calm and say "but you WILL take it out of the case and put my name on it, right????"
NO, they will just leave it in the case with no tag on it. NOW I'm pissed and tell them that if it disappears because someone with a clue figures it out and it sells I will be raising some serious hell... and remind them of how ATF might not like that they have guns on display that are not even accounted for in the system... as well as point out that an employee could pretty much throw one in the trash and walk it outside because it doesn't "exist," so who would know ... they don't care... unreal.

Hopefully you will get it... I thought my price was good... didn't expect them to drop any more. Guess they are down to the last few left.
Mine wasn't in the computer under 11-87. They had the order number on the end of the box as the model number. They were able to find it by UPC.

No wonder they had to clearance them out. They probably weren't selling due to the problems finding them in the system. I know I wouldn't wait very long to buy one at the regular price if they couldn't find it to ring-up the sale...

Glad you posted this.I was curious if the 1187 was the equivalent of the 870 express just in an automatic. The reason being I had 3 Remington 870 express guns that all rusted in just a few years and 2 of them were never even shot and oiled every 2 or 3 months. My 40 year old wingmaster doesn't have any rust and it was in the rain on quite a few hunts.
A ruff matte finish will rust faster than a gloss finish . I recently bought 3 , 870 express models to use as lender guns for new hunters . Mine have never rusted and I live where the humidity is very high in the summer , but not in my house or where I store the guns . I have hunted in the rain , with rain running off the barrel . When I get home , I remove the barrel and trigger group and clean it and oil it , never any rust .

My nephew has left his 1187 in his truck for a week or weeks and I have gotten on him about that , when I saw the surface rust . He does the same thing with his .22 in the garage and it will rust in those conditions as most carbon metal will .

I would check the humidity in your house or where your guns are stored .

Dang , now I am going to have to go too Walmart .

This mornings 7am trip payed off... the SG Manager brought up the "unaccounted" for gun in the system in about 15 seconds. Pretty painless and I suppose at $124, worth the aggravation of last nights hour wasted.
An inspection after getting it home seems to indicate that Remington is trying to step up their game in workmanship/quality... but a trip to the field is in order to confirm.

Congrats! I would say getting it for $124 was worth it!

When you go, take the SKU and UPC info with you... that may be the only way they find them in their system.
