So i have pretty small hands. I have a gen 3 19 and even with the finger grooves shaved off it's just not very comfortable to hold. Was thinking of trading in the gen 3 for a gen 5 but only if the grip is smaller. So does anyone have any insight?

No finger grooves and thinner if no backstrap added.

Surely there must be a local gun shop for you to handle one.

Your finger size will also matter for comfort. For cost purposes, you might want to try an 80% lower.

Or perhaps a Gen5 G26?

Or a P365 because sometimes you have to find ergos that work with your hands.

My wife has slender hands and she prefers the LC9s and the CZ P01.

I traded my older generations for the gen 4s. The finger grooves don't bother me but the slightly smaller circumference feels better. Easily noticed by me. I also prefer the mag release on the newer ones.

That said, I never had a problem shooting the gen 2 and 3 guns.

I'd try the new 43X and 48 if you want to stay Glock. They felt really good just holding them. I haven't shot either. The SIG 365 feels great for my hands as well.

I have carried a gen2 G-23 almost since the G-23 came out.
I have watched the new pistols come out, and checked out the changes, but until the new G-43X came out I was still carrying my Old G-23 gen2. and still have an older G-19.
I have looked at the G-45, and thinking about retiring my G-19, it is old enough that it should have had the Six Part update, but I have never done it.

The p365 definitely sounds nice. Honestly not really a fan of the 48/43x. I had a gen 4 19 and it felt decent but it was my first handgun and I had one of the ones with ejection issues. So I traded that for a 320 in 40 cal. It had WAAAY better ergonomics but the 19.4 I had shot so much flatter and was definitely easier to shoot. So traded that for the gen 3 and I'm just not a fan of how it feels in my hand.
I'd really like to get another 19 or 19 sized gun. Idk maybe im too picky and just need more training?

I've really been eyeing the 365 or g43 for concealed carry purposes. Guess I just like the thoughts of more ammo.
How important is comfort to everyone else when shooting?
Picking a platform that fits is priority #1, the other issues will fall in place after addressing this. Good Luck.

IMO, it's time to slow down. You've made several quick trades. If it were me in your situation, I'd find a range that has a wide variety of rentals. Bring your 19.3 along as a "limited" reference. Test as many guns over several range sessions to narrow what you like. Concentrate on the new stuff and shoot a mag or two through the 19 that you aren't happy with.

I've made Glock work for me despite "challenged" ergonomics. A couple of decades of use gives familiarity. In today's market, I could easily have gone with something else, starting over. Pick what's right for you.

The gen 4 grip is smaller than a gen 3 but not enough to notice.
That depends. For some, it's just enough to notice and it's not necessarily about hand size. It took Gen 4 for me to even look at a Glock and now I own many. I find the grip on a Gen 3 Glock 19 to be too fat, but find my Glocks 20 Gen 4 and 21 Gen 4 to be very comfortable, so it's not always about hand size.

Comfort is an important consideration for me. Not just because it "feels" good, but comfort can also suggest a good fit, for a secure grip. I like my Glock 43, but I could easily see the Sig or something else replacing it one day. There's no way any of us can tell you what you'll like. Just look at the opinions so far. Find a shop where you can handle potential candidates. See how it feels. See how well you can operate it. Look to see if there's a range in your area that rents. The handgun of your dreams, may end up being a nightmare, so look for any opportunity to handle first.

"How important is comfort to everyone else when shooting?"

Very important. that's why I would pick a Gen 5 over a Gen 3 because of no finger grooves. And both Gen 4's and Gen 5's have the different size backstraps and have a smaller grip without them. But I wouldn't get a Gen 5 G19 with the half-moon mag cut out because I had that on a Gen 2 and hated it.

On a Gen 5 I'd opt for the MOS version that doesn't have the cut-out even if I never used the MOS feature. I don't like forward slide serrations either, but if that's what I have to live with to get a Gen 5 without the dumbass mag cut-out, so be it.

Another thing about the MOS feature, is that it increases the resale value of the gun.

Awesome answers everyone you've really given me a lot to think about. Unfortunately theres no gun shop with a range in a 1.5 hour radius from me. Theres a couple of shops near by that I can at least handle some different ones so I may just do that.
Is the p10c grip any better?

The P-10c grip feels better to me but I don't have a problem with the grip of the Glock 19 being too big and the grip of the P10 may actually be bigger, but I like it mostly because of the grip angle.

the P10c is nice to shoot, but the G19 is better for concealed carry because it's more compact and weighs a couple ounces less. see how much heavier the barrel is in the attached picture and that accounts for the greater width of the slide and the grip.

CZ P-10 C
Weight 26 oz
Length 7.3 in
Width 1.26 in
Height 5.2 in
Barrel Length 4.02 in
.
G19
Weight: 23.6 oz
Length:7.3 in.
Width: 1.18 in.
Height: 4.99 in.
Barrel Length: 4.01 in.

Finding a 19 sized gun that comfortably fits these chick mittens is becoming quite the challenge
As much as I hate the two-tone look of the G48, it's a nice size gun and if you need more than 10+1 rounds to survive a gunfight maybe you need to practice more so that you can make every shot count.

And now it's available with a black slide.
