I’m considering carrying my Glock 17 RMR x300 in a Tier 1 Concealment Axis. The holster appeals to me because it’s expensive and I like shiny things. That, and social media says they are great.

Will I hate it?

I personally can’t carry AIWB. I have a head thing about pointing the weapon at my dick. Plus it just isn’t comfortable for me, in any aspect except for draw. But try it, worst thing that happens is you don’t like it.

It’s very if not the most personal preference after the decision to carry at all. It helps comfort-wise to have the athletic drop (8 to 10 inches smaller waist than chest) so the holster (I recommend Tenicor VELO with metal clips) snugs right in the obliques at 11 or 1 for left or right hand respectively.

Never heard of the Tier 1 holster, but that don’t mean squat. There are reasons for carrying AIWB. Liking shiny new expensive holsters isn’t one of them, IMO.

I have carried AIWB for a good number of years and have not been able to make a light work. Not even an APLC, much less an x300. For me AIWB is finicky at best. Slight change in weight and stuff rubs funny. Change pants type and same.

Good luck though. If the holster works drop a review and some pics.

I dunno. Even with my well fitting, well concealed IWBs in the 4:00ish position, it always feels wonky and slow. I generally carry OWB but that is obviously a bit limiting with regard to clothing.

I will AIWB with my gross Ruger LC9 in a stupid Uncle Mike’s thing if I’m running into the store or whateve and I’m not already armed.

I have been lazy as hell for a number of years carrying a gun. It takes something to get me out of sweatpants. Lol. I have endeavored to change that however.

I have the same problem with violating the rule that says Never point a gun at anything that you do not wish to destroy.

But if you're willing to violate that rule you need to spend some time with snap caps in the gun practicing draw, fire, and re-holster. Also regardless of how you carry, on an everyday basis, a G19 is a lot more comfortable to carry IWB and easier to conceal than a G17 but if you're willing to carry a gun with a grip as large as a G17, a G45 would be easier to carry IWB than a G17.

I prefer 3:30 carry to Appendix carry. Worst carry scenario, I'd rather get shot in the buttcheek than in the family jewels or the femoral artery.

I’m used to a Colt Commander and a Govt sized 1911 so grip length is NBD.

I’ve moved to appendix carry from 3:00, and have done so through training. The 2nd rule of never muzzling what you don’t want to destroy is for unholstered firearms, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to carry a gun anywhere in a bag, a holster, etc.
That being said, you ARE in danger of muzzling vital areas with an unholstered gun if not following sound training rules. Done right, appendix carry doesn’t muzzle you with an unholstered gun even in the startle/flinch response.

I’ve carried my new 17 appendix but I go back to the 19 for true concealment. I can conceal the 17 fine, but it is a little on the big side and I’ve got a thing against printing even a little bit.

If you want to appendix carry, get training and reholster reluctantly. Wear only skin tight undershirts or no undershirt at all.

Everyone can drop the AIWB isn't dangerous garbage. It is dangerous. Drawing and holstering in that area is dangerous. It is also dangerous anywhere on your body. So really, stop the it's not dangerous garbage. Anytime you're sticking a loaded gun into your pants their is an element of danger. AIWB just happens to have a smaller margin for error. BUT......

Carrying AIWB is what all the YouTube Operators do. It's the most operator way to carry. Don't forget your RMRDS, threaded barrel w/thread protector for the suppressor that you conceal carry and maybe have the grip and slide work done by ATEi. Then you will have the most operator of all carry packages. Oh, it better be in 9mm.

That being said, I'm trying to become more operator and am thinking about adopting appendix. Those Tier 1 Concealed holsters look super fancy. However, after playing around with things on my own I think for me, I need a separate holster and mag pouch with a neoprene sponge on them to make it more comfortable and roll the gun into my body for maximum operator concealment. I think I'm going to go the JM custom kydex route or Alpha Concealment and put one of JM's wedges on it. I'm not 100% operator though. I operate for sure, but I still carry a Glock 23 with a TLR-7 and no RMRDS so carrying .40 (How could I be this stupid...so high pressure) no RMRDS (How do I even hit anything) and not doing that stupid thumb/palm front of the slide pinch BS all the people in the YouTube Army do keeps me on the outside of the operator circle. Hopefully carrying AIWB will help me get more acceptance. :-(

I carry AIWB daily.
I’m not an operator, you tube or otherwise.
It works for me, haven’t shot myself in the short and curlies as of yet.
It’s definately not a 9mm.

Experiment and find something you like, then train that way and stay vigilant whilst inserting a deadly machine anywhere on your person.

Be greater than the hater.

I do not know anything about your reported shiny holster, but AIWB is what I have doing since I started carrying and to me there is no better way to carry. I though use an option you may look down your nose at, but it works and is I expect more comfortable than what you mentioned, and that is a nylon holster like an Uncle Mike or Blackhawk with a belt hook. Good luck!

Oh, I have NEVER holstered in that position, I remove the holster, insert the gun, then put the holstered gun and holster back in position.

I find it moderately uncomfortable since it probably presses on some arteries in that area and I have no fat there at all. I can bear it in a thin cowhide holster or a remora type of holster...no kydex or horsehide in general. My jeans/suits/slacks/shorts all rest on my hips though so they ride lower than the good-old-boy look. Maybe that is the issue. I can manage it though.
