I may be a bit new and careful,
but I would appreciate specific brand and item number if possible
Specific to taking my 32 gen 4 and have it shoot 9mm reliably.
Obviously prefer not to have to deal with changing out internal parts as I’m not familiar with that. Although if it’s real easy to do I’d have no problem.
I have looked at the barrel websites and really there is a bunch of talk about dropping in a .40 barrel but the 9mm is confusing.

Am I over thinking this?
Still want to shoot 357 just bought a case.

The only difference between the 40sw model and 357sig model is the barrel. Outside of that, the guns are the same. The 40-to-9 barrel he is talking about would work for you in your gun.

I run a 40-to-9 barrel in my Gen4 G35, no issues.

You can go to Lone Wolf's website to find a 9mm conversion barrel for your G32, (or the G23, same gun as you have except 40sw). They make it easy, and don't worry about barrel length, they have it taken care of.

A. G32/G23 to 9x19mm

Here's what remains different between an OEM G32/G23 converted to 9x19mm using an aftermarket conversion barrel, compared to the real G19:

1. Slide
2. Barrel
3. Recoil Spring Assembly
4. Firing Pin
5. Extractor
6. Spring-loaded Bearing
7. Ejector in Trigger Mechanism Housing
8. Rear Sight Elevation
9. Magazine

There are many important parts besides just the barrel and magazine which differ from the real G19. The result is OK for range toy use where it doesn't matter if something doesn't work properly all the time.

B. G32 to G23 40SW

Here's what remains different between an OEM G32 converted to 40SW using an OEM G23 barrel, compared to the real G23:

1. ONLY IF GEN4: Ejector in Trigger Mechanism Housing
2. Rear Sight Elevation

The slope of the ejector tip face in a **Gen4** G23 differs very slightly from that of a **Gen4** G32. The difference may be ignored. PRE-Gen4 G23 and G32 pistols use the same ejector.

There are NO important parts that differ from a real G23. The result is satisfactory for all purposes including critical self defense functions.

SUMMARY

If your converted G32 will fill no important function, a 9x19mm magazine and aftermarket barrel will serve.

If your converted G32 will fill a critical self-defense function, only an OEM G23 40SW barrel will serve.

Caliber conversions between 357SIG and 40SW using OEM barrels are the only caliber conversions sanctioned by Glock. Other conversions for these and other models and calibers are aftermarket creations for the hobbyist.

So for home defense forget the 9mm in G32.
Well, the conversion barrel and magazine would work in most circumstances and 9x19mm is a passible defense round. But for the serious reliability required for home and self defense nothing can challenge an all OEM Glock. A G32 with OEM G23 barrel is the same thing as an all OEM G23, except for rear sight elevation and, IF GEN4, a very slightly altered ejector.
Buy a Glock OEM 23 barrel and can confidently shoot use the .40.
Exactly and absolutely. Plus, 357SIG magazines work fine for 40SW, even before the current #3 357SIG magazine follower and the #9 40SW follower became identical about six years ago.
Reread a few times Mike-M seriously where have you gained the expertise on these Glocks?
There are many many on this forum who know more than I do, even though I probably have more time to waste. :)

Glock Talk, especially the General Glocking forum, can be very valuable for learning the Glock "machine".
And Glock does sanction the 32 to 23 conversation but not 1 other in any pistol or caliber?
More broadly, Glock sanctions conversions between 357SIG and 40SW:

G22 <-> G31
G23 <-> G32
G27 <-> G33.

It's also OK to use a G23 or G32 barrel in a G27 or G33 pistol. The barrel will protrude an extra half-inch in front of slide. It is NOT possible to use a G22 or G31 barrel in a G23, G27, G32, or G33 pistol.

Glock will not sell a 357SIG barrel for a Gen2 G22 pistol with serial below CNX000, nor a 357SIG barrel for a Gen2 G23 pistol with serial below CPU000. (ALL G27 pistols are OK.) Other than that, Glock has no restrictions for 357SIG and 40SW caliber conversion. See the BARREL section of:

SUMMARY
If you want to convert your G32 to 9x19mm for cheap ammo at the range, the aftermarket 9x19mm barrels will work OK in your G32.

If you want to convert your G32 to 40SW for cheap ammo at the range or just to have an alternate self defense round, the OEM G23 barrel is literally made for your G32. I have OEM 40SW barrels for all my 357SIG Glocks.

If you want the finest production cartridge available for a self-defense auto-pistol, then keep that G32 in service with its 357SIG barrel (making sure never to use FMJ bullets for defense)! :)
