These images are posted to help provide a closer view of the internals on a Glock 17 Gen 5 frame, from the top down. There is a small tab sticking up at the rear of the frame that is not present in previous Generations, also note the differences in the ejector, as well as other differences in how the internals are put into the frames. The black frame is the Gen 5, the OD, a Gen 3, both are Glock 17 frames. If you look closely, you'll see other small differences in the frame molding, etc.

Thanks for the internal view. I haven't had a chance to look at one at the store and haven't seen a video online of it. Have you completely disassembled it yet? If so, any difficulty in taking some parts off?

Good pictures! Frame walls are much thinner on Gen5. Kinda like Walther PPQ.

The hardest part of disassembly is pushing down on the ambi slide lock while pushing the trigger pin out. It's a lot like taking apart the G43 but more difficult cause the spring is on the opposite side. I have taken apart both the Gen 5 17 & 19.

Nope...no detail stripping, probably won't do that until I have several thousand rounds through it, so not for a while.

One of the talking heads on You Tube, claims the new right side slide lock cut out in the frame appears hacked out. Claims each one he looked at appears different. Can anybody confirm that? In GlockenSpecht first pic, it appears that way, not sure though.

Nope, not "hacked out" .... looks just fine to me, just took a very close look at it. I think some people are trying really, really hard to find things wrong. I suppose if you analyzed everything under a high power microscope you can find all kinds of flaws in fit and finish...and if you go deep to the subatomic particle level of analyse, if may be SHOCKING how screwed up Glocks are. :)

Impossible. Glock manufactures thousands of these a day. It's a molding machine than injects the polymer around the metal inserts. Happened to see a video of it being done in the advanced armorers course. Just doesn't make any sense from a manufactures point of view. Just think about how long it would take to modify each individual frame.

Hmmm...not sure about that, given the weight comparison between the frames, see other topic. :)
Maybe it's just my impression. It can be a way to keep the weight in check after adding some elements not present before (like the ambi slide release). I'm just guessing. Anyway, thanks for posting the photos.

Here is a close up look at the frame on each side with the slide stop lever listed up...you can see a little "tab" of polymer on the right side. I think this is where Glock stores secret data gathering technology.

Oh ok I understand. Not everything can be perfect

I think Glock should form every single frame, by hand, then polish them delicately with the wool shorn from the finest lambs available.

But what is that little tab on the right side under the right slide slide lever latch thingie??? Surely it is a huge issue that this forum must thoroughly discuss and argue about???

What is it???

For God's sake...we have to know!!!
