I have Dewey cleaning rods for both rifle and pistol. But if I needed to start over I would get the carbon fiber rods.
^^^ I have 4 Tiptons. They are great. Add a Tipton jag kit and you are set for life.
Pretty much anybody. It's a rod. As long as the various cleaning tips from various manufacturers screw on (as opposed to the ones with their own thread size) it's fine.preferably about 8 inches long ?

So $10-12 for the cheapest carbon fiber arrow, some heat shrink tubing, cleaning tips...you'll notice that a lot of replies have the words "carbon fiber" in them....
go to wally world and get the cheapest, smallest dia. carbon arrow, about 4-5 bucks.
then go to the gun cleaning supplies and find which make brush/bore mop/jag threads into the end for the point.
then go to the hardware section and find a piece of heat shrink tube that will slip over the shaft and shrink to a tight fit when heated.
cut the arrow shaft to cleaning length plus handle length with a high speed cut off wheel (think dremel with a wiz wheel), add the heat shrink tube for the handle with 1/4" hanging off the end you just cut so when heat shrinked it covers the end, and ta-da you have a custom length cleaning rod with enough arrow shaft left over to make a second one.
yes, yes, the CRB is strong in this one.....(said in a "yoda" like voice)

The reason IÂ’m suggesting the Tipton or carbon fiber rods. Some people also have, shoot and clean revolvers. Where there is a good chance of rubbing the crown of the bore. Two piece rods have a tendency to unscrew, bend, and cheap handles.I see the need for the better rods with Long Rifle Barrels, but pistol is not the same. Even a cheap aluminum rod will never touch the rifling. It's simply can't flex enough to do that. Nothing wrong with a nice rod. The feel of quality may be worth it to you. But it won't make any difference in a short barrel.
This one is 8 inches, and the one I ordered, because it was 8 inches will report back after I run it through a Glock or 2.......Best/joeI have the 12" Tipton. Honestly, it's a tad too big for pistols. Kind of a pain in the ass. While I too was taken with the idea of "carbon fiber" when I got it, if I were to do over, I'd just get the Dewey.
