Did you ever insert all 4 empty mags to see if the slide locks back by hand?
I can't remember for sure but I don't think I ever inserted all 4 empty mags to see if the slide locked back by hand.

After I read your post I just did this and the slide locks back by hand including the mag that my LGS re-installed the spring correctly.

I'll report back later this week with I shoot the G30 if I am still have issues. Thanks!

Load 2 rounds into each mag and shoot weak handed only. Will save a lot of ammo. Are you shooting reloads or factory ammo?
For the range I shoot Freedom Munitions Remanufactured.

My 26 was doing this today. Thought it might be a bad mag but I think I can attribute the malfunction to the walmart range ammo. Loaded 3 rounds of Federal HST into each of my 3 mags and all locked back when empty, so I bet your problem could be ammo related.

OP:

Well I went to the range today with my Glock 30. I used the suspected mag 6 times shooting 5 rounds each time. Each time after the last round was fired the slide closed - it did not lock in the rear open position. One time when I took the empty mag out of the gun the follower was turned downward at a 45 degree angle.

I shipped the mag to Glock US to have them look at it under warranty.

My other three G30 mags worked perfectly today.

I have a new Glock 30 Gen 4 that I purchased 2 weeks ago. I shot it at the range today for the second time and it has a total of 200 round through the barrel. I am a left handed shooting so my strong hand is my left hand.

I had no problems the first time I shot (100 rounds). I have the three 10 round mags that came with the Gen 4 gun and I purchased a 4th OEM Glock 10 round magazine so I have a total of 4.

When I shoot at the range I load 5 rounds into each magazine. This forces me "slow down" instead of burning through a full mag. Today, 4 or 5 times when the mag was empty and the last round was fired and ejected the slide returned to the closed position allowing me to press the trigger on an empty chamber.

After this happened a couple of times I thought it might be a magazine issue so I kept track of magazines. It happened two times with the same magazine - the other times I don't know which mag I was using. I inspected the top of each mag and they all look the same with no apparent damage.

Before I take the gun back to my LGS (Glock Armorer) where I bought it I thought I would ask if any of you know what may be causing the slide not to lock open after the last round is fired.

Thanks.
I have a 29 and 30 gen 4 am to a lefty. so switched to left of course. in very short time all mags would not lock back when empty. switched back to right hand with no more problems. look inside where locking lever makes contact with mag. you will see barely makes contact with mag. than switch back to right hand and look fully makes contact with mag. remove slide than install mag and look. you will see. mag relies pushes mag away from contact point in left hand . pushes closer to contact in right hand. bad design. do not know how they can repair as is. I switched mine back to right hand felt better to lock back on empty with mag relies for right hand than not knowing gun empty while in god forbid fire fight an is not that really why we carry in the first place.

Glock said will repair or replace gun. how can they repair when stated have no kit to fix problem. switch back to right hand and say their you go. no idea what good a switchable to left hand mag relies is when defective.

It's a little difficult to understand the eccentric composition and punctuation of your text. Also, you have restarted a thread that has been dead for more than three years. It is more effective to slowly and **carefully** compose and post a whole new distinct thread.

Could not find any info on problem was haveing so posted what I found out my self in hope to help some one else out.
Sorry was to complicated for you to follow what I was explaining all trying to keep it real simple but thorough. Re read over and over carefully.

Some one need to bring 3 year old post back because I could find no info on problem and if was over 3 years old looks like Glock never fixed their proble. Seems kind of ignorant on their part to Let It Go and not fix problem. Other than that glocks are perfect.

If you re-read the posts, you will get the idea of how to troubleshoot your situation.

There was nothing for GLOCK to fix mechanically.

Please realize that >90% of problems discussed on this chat forum is shooter/user induced in some way, shape, or form: most commonly from lack of experience or training with platform, or weak foundation/skills/habits, or mechanically altering the Glock; or some combination of all 3 variables.

Best example here: you get a top of the line brand set of Titanium golf irons, your slice count goes way up, is there a defect in the clubs?

Glock 29 and 30 gen 4. Both have slide lock back on empty problem. I am left handed. Switched mag relise to left hand . Slide not locking back. Problem relise pushes on mag and pushes side ways so have mal function. Aggeravates me glock knows of problem and makes convertable but wont work corectly when swjtched. Pull slide off . Insert mag and look. Barely contacs mag . Swjtch back to right hand and look. You will see problem.
