I bought a Gen4 19 and a Gen 4 17 in February this year. The 17 has these "MBS" letters in the oval on the right side frame just above the forward end of the trigger guard.
Inquiring minds want to know.

MBS = Multiple Back Straps

That sounds like a good answer from both of you but my 19 doesn't have MBS there and it did come with the 4 BS option. Still, these are best answers so far. Thanks.

A simple quick Google search turns up "Modular Back Strap System" as described on the Glock web page. Why your G17 has the MBS letters and your G19 doesnÂ’t is a mystery, but could be something as simple as that step got missed on your gun some how.

What is Google? Yeah, guess I should have searched before posting. Don't really care for Google's political leanings so I don't use them unless absolutely required. I will do better next time. :embarassed:

Yes, Google leaves a lot to be desired, but it is a handy little tool. It’s amazing what you can find with simple letters in the Google search. Google is in every corner of the internet and as much of your personal info as they can possibly infiltrate. I hate Google, but still use it. As for posting rather than searching, most of the reason I prefer posting to searching is the interaction with others and the possibility of learning something from someones personal experience rather than reading Google. Normally, I hate when people just post “search”, so I tried to make my post more than that.

Is your Glock 19 "four strap" compatible, or only two?

The MBS frames have a nub on top of the stub-beavertail to accommodate the two additional beavertail extension straps. Older Gen-4 Glocks do not have the nub, and are therefore not MBS.

All of my Gen 4 Glocks have MBS on the frame, yet only a couple have the "nub". I've never seen a Gen 4 without the MBS. There or not, the Multiple Back Strap system is one of the defining features of the Gen 4. The nub was added to the frame when the beavertail backstraps were introduced.

my 2013 G-19 has the "MBS" (didn't come with no beavertail)...you know what that means...collector prices in the future...unfortunately my 2014 G-26 has the "MBS" and it did come with the "bevertail backstrap and notch"... :wow:
