Could be useful for carrying more firearms in a single case when flying and having to check baggage or firearms, but even that's a stretch. Nothing wrong with the idea of pistol in rifle stock, presuming one possesses appropriate license to so carry, not to run afoul of the law.

Bring back the Sharps carbine with the "coffee grinder" stock.
