I figured I'd post a pic of my LMT with the 10.5" barrel and the SIG 553 just to give a size comparison. The LMT is actually quite a bit larger (and heavier) than the picture shows.
Excuse the P210 being in the pic, but he seems to be inseparable from his big brother :)
Even when I mount the stock on the 553, it will still be considerably shorter and lighter than the LMT, because it's a folding stock. That makes it pretty versatile as a relatively concealable and practical rifle for car carry and such.

That said, the ballistics of the LMT is quite a bit better than the 553, because it is set up for 300 Blackout.
According to Sig, the 553 is good for 300 meters. That's not too shabby for a 9" barreled relatively tiny rifle.

Nice!!!

That's a real SIG 55X-series right there!!!
Thanks :)
You wouldn't believe the weight difference. The LMT has a metal "slick" fore-end.
I think the Swiss nailed it with the 553, in designing a very tiny package for close-in fighting.
When you go to check one out, open it up and pop the bolt carrier out. It's like fine jewelry, and every bit as smooth and polished as it's little brother.

The best AK ever made.
Similar in looks, but quite a bit different. The lower is more like an AR, and the upper uses a spring over the piston. The method of breakdown is like a cross between the two, but if anything closer to the AR. The 2 pins are typical of how well made the 553 is. They actually have a locking button, and you have to press both sides of the pin at the same time in order to remove them. Also, it has an adjustable gas valve, which came in handy when I tried to shoot relatively light 223 through it. It didn't work reliably until I opened it up. Then it ran 100%. It will be interesting to see how it works suppressed.

I like the Valmet or FNC but your mileage may vary.
The FNC was a rattletrap piece of junk. I sold mine off for a princely sum during the AWB ban without losing a wink of sleep.

The Valmet was and is the finest AK clone. However, the 55X-series is probably the best iteration of AK derivative or whatever the heck you wanna call it. The 552 is even closer to AK's internal.

According to you, my FNC para still shoots about 1.5 moa has never had a stoppage of any kind and probably one of the best design folding stocks ever.

Yes, according to me and my experience with my FNC. Yeah, the gun worked fine. Yeah, it's accurate. However, it was built like a plumber's nightmare.

Sure, military guns aren't necessarily meant to be prettily built but the FNC reminded me of the AR-18 in the build department.

Like I said, I sold mine off without losing a wink of sleep. The same went for the Beretta AR-70.
