Just purchased a G-23. Bought it for its versatility (ammo price and availability) with a conversion barrel.
Do the G-23's wear faster and have a shorter longevity or is it just relative when comparing it to a G-19.

If this is the wrong place to post I apologize or the question has been answered before.

Most people aren't rich enough to run the experiment. The .40 cal rounds are harder on the gun and you might wear out some inexpensive parts a bit faster (recoil assembly, trigger spring), but if you ever need a new barrel, frame, or slide the replacement cost will be minor compared to the cost of ammo it took to require it.

I have a G23 that's 21 years old and it's had 1000's of 1000's of 1000's rounds fired through it and the only parts Ive replaced on it was the recoil spring. The gun still shoot like a new one.

OP, I wouldn't worry about it. In theory, 40 S&W guns *should* wear quicker compared to 9mms. But it's doubtful you would ever come anywhere close to the round count needed for that to happen.

I've honestly never heard of anyone wearing out a 40...other than on the internet!

While the .40 guns will most likely wear a bit faster than the 9mm guns, thee wear factor is not that great regardless; these are very tough guns, and it will take most people a lifetime to actually wear one out;

My edc 23 has almost 70,000 rounds (that's seventy thousand )through it and it's just fine...

^^^^^This exactly. I have a 1997 G-23 with well over 10k rounds thru it and I've only swapped out an RSA.

Wow, sounds like I also made a good decision to buy a G23. I bought a Gen4 and just ordered a LW .357sig barrel. Don't plan to shoot too many 357's through the gun but at least I'll be able to do it without worrying. The fella that sold me the LW barrel said the later Gen3's and all the Gen4's can handle the 357. I'm even able to use the 40cal. mags that came with the Gen4 to fed the 357 too! Nice model there, Glock!

Gen. 2 23 that had not a lot of rds. through it and
I took it to Glock for a check up and night sights.

They informed me the frame needed replacing , it would take about 2 weeks and would be at no charge. They blamed the recoil spring and said it needed to be replaced every 2,000 ---3,000 rds.

My 23 didn't have that many rds. through it and I did a spring test at every cleaning and it always passed.

2 weeks from the day I left it at Glock, Fed-X delivered it to my home.

I now have a Gen. 2/3 Glock 23

I ADREE!!!! Well Said!

I bought my G23 back in 1993, and have fired quite a few rounds through it over the years. Still have it, and it still runs well. It was my first Glock, and I'll probably ask to be buried with it when I check out.

As suggested the cost of the ammunition to wear out the gun will be many times the cost of a replacement gun, and Glock might take replace bunches of parts for you.

Just load it and shoot it. It's a Glock

I have a 32 with just under 20K through it... aside from some minor scraping marks inside the dust cover from the RSA, there is no other wear areas that look worse than my 27 with 1k through it...

As stated above, if you can afford the cost of the ammo to wear out a glock, the price of the gun is insignificant...
