Very hard to find in my area, matter of fact it was all I could find, I scored one box.
I have no experience with it never shot it.
Is it good carry Ammo??

there are two 125grn Speer GD with two different bullets. one runs about 1350fps and is made to expand quicker and the other is more targeted at the LE market. it runs about 1375fps and although the bullet expands it expands a little less to penetrate more. for civilian SD I think the 1350 ammo would be better. for me when I carried the sig my favorite load was the HST load from federal but I also carried GD. I think the GD loads are about as good as it gets in 357sig. they also use flash surpressant powder in both the GD and HST loads.

Tried both versions, did not really care for either. Not because of any fault in quality or any malfunctions. The design of the bullet just hit the feed ramp hard in all my Glocks and was more prone to bullet setback than any other round I tested. It especially hit the feed ramp hard on my G33. The HST on the other hand feeds silky smooth and performs well.

I pick up a box of 50 rounds today and will be going out this Friday to run about a mag or two in my G27.

My G33 barrel nose dived bad on GDHPs.
Probably should have sent it back to Glock.
Ranger Ts are some of the most reliable feeding HPs
I've ran in a variety of calibers and weapons.

I've read that all three brands have a great street record with LE.

Some of them had issues with nose diving. IMO some of it is mag related.(steel feed lips not even)

The GDHPs set back more than any other round with my G32 also, did not try them in my G31. My G33 never had a malfunction with the GDHP just seemed to hit the ramp hard. I noticed with my handloads that the G33 can be more picky, especially with longer COAL and larger metplat bullets than my 32 or 31.

I was tempted a few times over the years to try the Ranger T or Bonded but never bothered. A lot of which was due to their QC issues and track record of not expanding in other calibers.(Ranger T) The Remington GSB works well along with the HST. So I have a deeper penetrating bonded round and a shallower penetrating non bonded round for carry.

Full Disclosure:
I was a Ranger T guy all the way.
But reports of QC issues made me think twice too.
These days I run Federal HST 45/40/357 Sig in most of my autos.
My Kahr MK40 Elite 3" likes 180 gr Speer GDHP Short Barrel.
Revolvers:
44 Mag & 38 Special - GDHP Short Barrel.
357 Magnum 2" & 3" - Remington Golden Sabers.

I just got some deals on large quantities of Ranger T.
And have shot boatloads of them without feeding issues.

Gold Dots are pretty much the gold standard for the .357 SIG in Law Enforcement. I think the Big Three all pretty much perform about the same. My personal favorite is the regular CorBon 125gr JHP (not DPX). It's loaded most closely to the original .357 Magnum round, which it was meant to emulate. In my hillbilly ballistics testing, it always seems to penetrate just as far if not more than the Gold Dot, with a little greater expansion.

Ironically, .357 SIG is kind of like a .45; kind of hard to find a bad round for it.

Excellent ammo. Here are a trio of expanded bullets. These are from the higher-velocity #54234 ammo.

The number indicate the number of layers of cloth each penetrated before entering 1-gallon water jugs.

Velocity at 10' average distance from my 4-1/4" (stock)-barrelled S&W M&P is about 1350FPS.

I haven't had any problems at all shooting the Gold Dot (54234) in my 3rd generation G-32.

The one and only backyard test I have conducted was with Bitterroot Valley 125-grain Gold Dot that were loaded at 1300 fps. All components were Speer and first run. They penetrated into three water jugs and expanded uniformily just like the three in your photo. I do believe that Gold Dot is the load most agencies use in issued .357sig pistols.

I think as someone already posted, it's hard to find a sub-par .357sig round if you stick to the major American ammo manufacturer products. I have 125-grain HST and Golden Saber Bonded, as well as 147-grain XTP. I honestly couldn't say right now which ammo I prefer. This year I plan on doing a bench rest accuracy test and just maybe one will clearly be the winner.

Tried DPX the other day using the traditional water jug test. Only two of the petals would expand, the others kind of imploded. Wasn't that impressed with it, but again, it's best at punching through hard barriers...not a jug of water that causes rapid over-expansion for a cool pic to show your friends.

One thing that .357SIG has over .40 is that it (IMHO) is inherently accurate. I know there's a difference between combat accuracy and "target" accuracy, but I swear that it makes anybody an instantly better shot. Friend of mine who has never shot a weapon before hit a Coke can at 30 yards his first shot with my P229 .357. With a magazine of .40 out of Glock 23, looked like a shotgun at 30 feet with 00 buck on paper.

Yes this is scientific, just like my water jug/phone book ballistics testing...

I've got some of the #53918 Gold Dot 357 Sig
I got a 1,344 fps average (501# KE) out of my Glock 32

30 feet or 30 yards?

I suspect if he were firing the same weapon, just in the different calibers, he would get more consistent results. Comparing a Sig SA trigger with a Glock trigger is a bit much, especially for someone who has never shot before.
