For the first time I ran a few rounds of 223 through my AR. I previously had only ever shot 556 through it. Wow. The recoil was so much less. I was not expecting the recoil to be so light. I'm thinking I might start buying more 223.

What specific loads are you talking about? Might not have to do with .223 vs. 5.56mm, likely has more to do with bullet weight and the powder the manufacturer used, as well as how hard they drive it.
I've got a 10.5" barrel, 5.5 lbs, Bulgarian Suchka pistol.
And can feel the difference in recoil between premium LE
ammo, same weight, in .223 vs 5.56.
But even with full power stuff like Hornady 75 gr. BTHP T2 TAP 5.56 NATO.
The recoil is still no problemo.
I wouldn't worry about it.
Just make sure your gun is rated for 5.56 if that's what you're shooting.

Still learning and this was a quick post. I sure everyone knew what I meant though. Although it makes me look like a rookie.
My barrel is rated for the 5.56/.223. So this is the first time I used a .223. I have to check the boxes to see the exact weight of the bullets I have used in the past compared to this current brand. I did like the felt recoil of this brand a lot so I'm going to definitely investigate this. Like I said...still learning.
A goal of mine is to one day load my own rounds to my liking.

Do not take it personal.
Not long ago someone corrected my grammar on a commenent on a You tube vid. I was thinking if someone has nothing better to do then correct grammar on a You tube comment they really need to get a life.

First, google up a recoil calculator and do the math. I had some 223 match many years ago. It had almost no recoil. It didn't cycle the gun. Most everything that cycles my guns feels the same to me.
BTW, I am surprised that recoil matters to you with this round.
It should be phrased as thus, "What are you guys? English teachers or something?!!"
