No.

Only Gen1s are G17, G17L, G18 and a very few G19s.

He just didn't know the correct nomenclature. That is a Gen2.

Damn, this is the first Glock related fact I've learned off of GT in at least a year. I thought there were more Gen1 models than those few. I would have guessed that the G22 was available for sure.

Nope. Gen1 frame discontinued 1988. Glock G20, G21, G22, G23 introduced two years later in 1990.

Yeah, I'd love to find a gen 1 G19, but they're all accounted for and don't really change hands.
I actually know someone who has one. He bought if off of a guy who was carrying it and had no idea what it was.

I tried, he won't part with it.

Series 1811,

I'd have a hard time with the "Gen 1" G26 back in '88, because that model didn't come out until 1995. Now a protoype of a G21 that would come out three years later, well maybe. Like you said people's memories get fuzzy, considering it was nearly 25 years ago.

However I deal with, on an infrequent basis, an older individual that works in a brand new gun shop in Lewisville Texas. He claims that the Gen 2 G23 on his hip was made in 1989, and that .40 S&W was around since 1984. How does he know these things, because of his brother that worked at S&W at the time. I've tried in very friendly ways to let him know that the G22 was the first .40 S&W gun put out by Glock in 1990/91, after seeing specs for the .40 S&W cartridge at Shot Show of 1990. He absolutely is adamant that he is right, though he will not do a serial number look up on his "1989 Glock 23." Fortunately he's the only one like this at said establishment. Everyone else from the owner on down is excellent, and even this guy is pretty decent, just grossly misinformed about his gun.

Best,

Dave

What would a decent price be for a first generation G19?

Could be. I was at our training facility in 1991, too, I know I shot the G26 prototype one of those times. It was a jam-a-matic at that time, but we all said "if you get the bugs worked out they would sell like hot cakes".

Yup, the first (prototype?) G26's were made with Gen2 G19 frames. I shot one too....and took pictures. :)
