I was making a insane attempt to get a better understanding of California's "bad gun" vs "not as bad gun" concept.

So for Glocks, no Gen 4's are allowed. What is different other than the introduction date that makes it different for "Safety"- California Style ?

Stupid idiots make unreasonable illogical laws in that state. "New" handguns offered for sale must have a loaded chamber indicator and a magazine disconnect.

The gen 3s are exempt because they are grandfathered in, as in offered for sale before the pointless "Roster of Approved Hanguns" law.

One more reason I'm glad my 14-year stay in CA is over.

You'd think a state that's forgotten how to balance their own budget and in turn cuts PD and FD funding while closing countless parks and schools (when I left several cities were actually debating eliminating kindergarten...and then the same people blankly wonder why we're behind in education) would waste less time debating anti-constitutional laws and focus on any of the many truly serious social issues in that state.

Also another fine example of a state with zealous gun control that only affects law abiding citizens. Let the murder rate in Oakland speak for itself.

Gen 4's aren't illegal in CA.
I own four of them. Two of them are listed on my CCW, and were inspected by the issuing agency.

I know what he really meant to ask was "Why are Gen 4 Glocks not on the California DOJ Approved Handgun roster?"

They are not "illegal".

But what do I know, I'm just a lawyer.

If Sandra issued you a CCW, does that mean you are LE, a judge, or prosecutor? Were your Gen4 guns acquired as blue label or SSE? They may not be illegal, but for the common-folk, they are a royal pain to acquire.

Because the PRK is firmly under the thumb of ******* scum.

You could have stopped writing at "Stupid idiots."

Semantics, the average person cannot go into a Cali gunshop
and decide between a gen3 or gen4 as in the other 49 states.

Hmmmm Mag disconnect theory... I need to look into this.... is this the reason yall are saying Gen 4's can't be brought into Cali???:faint:

Yes, that is how the law works.

I understand how the law works, Is there specific wording that says Mag Release or something to that effect?

California is in the process of banning guns using 1 "safety" feature at a time so that when they are sued for unconstitutional gun banning they can argue safety as a compelling state interest. It is a long term plan that at least some there have in mind and have been working toward for years.

You can google it but basically all semiauto pistols made after a certain date must have a magazine disconnect.

In other words a gun won't fire with the mag out.

Gen3's were made before the law and are grandfathered in.
Gen4's made after so cannot be sold normally as such.

There are loopholes to getting a gen4 but I'm not aware
of the procedure.
