I believe it was Jeff Cooper.....Early '80s or so, when cops were just starting to look at automatics and moving away from revolvers, it's a pet name the gun writers (Guns and Ammo, Handguns, etc) started calling the autos crunchentickers.
Don't remember who started that, just remembered the whole wondernine phenomena. Thanks to the Brady Bill in 1993, we started getting smaller autos rather than continuing the "who can stuff more bullets into the butt of an auto" race.
Guilty!^^^^^ Buncha :fred: :miff:
Thanks folks,really didn't know that.'08.
[The late] Col Cooper said there are very few problems that cant be solved with $600 and a 30-06...
I got $24 and a 30-30. I think I'm in trouble. : supergrin:
You are correct, it was Chairman Jeff Cooper that coined the phrase Crunchenticker. That was what he called double action/ single action auto pistols. He said just throw that first round away because it will hit the berm and not the target. Get the hits! tom.:wavey:I believe it was Jeff Cooper.....
And i agree, one of the good thing that came out of the that horrid bill was smaller full power autos.
Col Cooper did think highly of the thutty thutty as a personal defense weapon. So does I  And I aint got the $600...so I aint worried about the $700 :crying:Not true: It was seven hundred dollars, and it was his daughter Lindy Wisdom (married name) who penned the original poem. (Reference: Jeff Cooper's Commentaries, Vol. 14, No. 1, January 2006, Paragraph 1)
I'm pretty sure the Colonel would call that a 'start', not trouble.
HTH :wavey:
Not a thing wrong with a 30/30 for an I can have only one to do all rifles. In practiced hands a formidable weapon.Col Cooper did think highly of the thutty thutty as a personal defense weapon. So does I  And I aint got the $600...so I aint worried about the $700 :crying:
